Someone will make an app that analyzes compression ratios that can easily suss out fakes. We did this 12 years ago when Al Qaeda was photoshopping bookcases into the backgrounds of their videos.

The real problem is that half of the country seems to have fallen down the stairs, took a hit to the dome and woke up stupid and brazen. Raw data and evidence now takes a back seat to feelings.

FWIW modern face swapping does indeed utilize DNNs.

It plausible that with enough smarts and compute, videos could be faked well. But we don't lneed videos to start wars. Remember those weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?
