Holy crap.

Two Jar Slave - 2019-04-15

Oh no.

Two Jar Slave - 2019-04-16

Y'know, on second viewing, at least this congressman is willing to say the universe existed 800,000 years ago. That's something.

Adjuvant - 2019-04-15

"Are you serious?"

What, no Cringe tag?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2019-04-15

I want to find a tag that will link it up with my favorite Michele Bachmann clip.

Two Jar Slave - 2019-04-16

Anything with post-2015 John Kerry also needs a 'good hair' tag.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2019-04-15

I saw this as part of a Seth Meyer monologue, and I had to submit it... but as much as I like Meyer, this just stands alone, and when I found the raw footage, it goes on longer than what they showed on Meyers, and it doesn't get less stupid. It's just cringe after cringe.

This was clearly a planned ambush. It wasn't off the cuff. Doesn't this guy have a staff that he can run this by?

teethsalad - 2019-04-16

i imagine his staffers are a combination of well-connected dumbshit failspawn and home-schooled true believers who have been in their particular bubble so long anything vaguely "liberal" is accepted as evil immediately without much debate or discussion

Cena_mark - 2019-04-16

Degrees don't matter to the RepubliKKKans. If they did, they'd actually listen to the climatologists.

badideasinaction - 2019-04-16

This is why I can't be in politics - I'd have called him a stupid motherfucker after about the second smarmy remark. And not regretted it for a minute.

cognitivedissonance - 2019-04-16

Not a single second of self-awareness in this man's entire life. Astounding.

Nominal - 2019-04-16

I'm not a fan of AO-C, but it's laughable how conservatives are desperately trying to hold her up as a boogeyman with constant quotes from her when we have dozens of GOP congressmen who say way more insane shit all the time.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2019-04-18

i don't know how we're discussing AOC yet again, but I am very much a fan. the best thing about AOC is that she's too young to run for President until maybe 2028. She can introduce a lot of important ideas without being at the center of the debate. If Trump wins in 2020, I'll be full on Bernie Socialist, but right now, I think we need to bring socialist ideas into the discussion, without lurching to the left. AMERICA NEEDS A REAL VIABLE LEFT, so we can have a real balanced discussion. Without leftist politicians, the GOP gets to paint the center as the extreme left, and you get all that crazy horseshit about Barak Obama being a communist.

You're starting to hear about how Nancy Pelosi and AOC are at odds, but these are two smart women, and they could very well be working together to redefine the center, because a center is what America needs right now. But you can't have a center without a left.

Gmork - 2019-04-16

The bar hasn't been lowered, it's been hammered into the dirt. You can basically just say anything now.

SolRo - 2019-04-17

There is no bar. There never was.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2019-04-17

Has there ever been a bar? Well, yes and no. It's hard to inagine Richard Nixon trying to get away with deranged nonsense like "no one in congress could possibly understand my tax returns, and that's why I'm not going to submit to lawful oversight." On the other hand, there have always been spectacularly stupid members of congress out there making statements on the floor that sound like classic Homer Simpson. In the seventies, there was a hearing on oil spills, and the harm to wildlife, that was interrupted by a certain indignant Republican Representative who loudly objected that he personally knew people who had been taking mineral oil for years, and it hadn't hurt them a bit. That's a preinternet quote, so I might not be able to source that, but I think that same stupid congressman may now be a prominent Senator.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2019-04-18

After some research, I now believe that the member of Congress who produced that gem about Mineral Oil to be one-term Virginia Senator William Scott, named "Dumbest Congressman" in 1974 by the Late Great New Times magazine, in an article that later turned out to be written by a young Nina Totenberg. Another gem by Scott, who died in 1997: "the only reason we need zip codes is because niggers can't read."

After all the work I did looking this up, I'm going to go ahead and fix the shitty syntax :
