Success and mental health have no correlation. If someone says they're struggling with unhappiness, believe them. Pointing at their bank accounts, fans, or hot exes as some kind of proof that they don't DESERVE to be unhappy is just shallow bitchiness. Jim Carrey was 30 when he hit the bigtime, and before that he was grinding it out in the comedy scene; how much opportunity would he have had to develop a healthy sense of self, or build any sort of longterm, sustainable mindset? I have no trouble believing that a guy who lived gig to gig, then film to film, then coke-party to coke-party, would eventually crash hard and struggle with feelings of existential discontent. Carrey's dopey scenes in this trailer made me chuckle, and I hope he figures himself out and doesn't end up in the news for the worst reasons.
