He had no business being in general pop which is where they put him. Being a psychopath he would tell 'jokes' about killing and eating people nobody found funny at all. Finally he had the idea to shape ground beef like a hand in the cafeteria and called it a 'handburger'. That was about the point where the other inmates had enough of his antics.
With all the indications that Dahmer hated being the way he was, I'm guessing that his behavior in prison was a (successful, as we know) attempt to bait someone into killing him.
It annoys me that Bill O'Reilly got to make many millions of dollars bemoaning how far American pop culture had fallen into the depths of sleaze AFTER he had hosted fucking "Inside Edition" for years.
