I saw an article last week where the author said he had learned that the term "Bernie Bro" is associated with unjustified accusations of misogyny, and for that reason, in the future, he would use "Berniesplainers".

If I was a woman, and I had the same encounters with Sanders supporters, I might conclude that they were misogynist assholes. As a white male, I decided that they were regular assholes. Looking back, I suppose it may have been a factor in some cases.

Actually, I saw similar behavior in 2008 from Obama supporters. As a Clinton supporter in 2008, I think I may have used the term "Obama Nazis" a couple of times. The phenomen of shrill, bullying supporters who lose all sense of proportion, abandon reason, and respond to any dissent with witless expressions like "rotten-brained" and "fuck you" is not confined to any one candidate. The centrist concession festival is how things are supposed to work, a big reason why it hasn't worked is because of the dissolution of the left. Without a viable left, the center becomes the right, and Sean Hannity gets to portray Barak Obama as a Communinst.

This was all while the sitting president mismanaged the worst national disaster since the great depression. Had things continued apace with no pandemic, or had Trump even been able to appear to manage it effectively, Trump probably would have won.

The Biden coalition relied on split ticket white suburbanites and is highly unstable. It also depended on an historically unpopular opponent and a massive national disaster. Biden doesn't seem poised to be able to deliver any meaningful legislation.

I mean, yay for no more Trump, but mid term the only real cause for optimism is the potential of the republican party to shatter and infight.

Since we're grading predictions, I'm going to go ahead and say that either the Q people fuck the GOP's shit up in a big way or the dems lose a lot of seats in the midterms.

I guess I phrased that in a way that I can't be wrong. The right fringe has been assimilating with the rest of the party (by dragging it rightward) pretty effectively for a while and I don't think that'll change.

So I am going to go ahead and guess that they'll take both houses (the senate map looks pretty good so far for them). Hit me up in 2022 and make fun of me if I'm wrong.
