Good thing CNN is biased as fuck against Sanders and in favor of Biden, who will lose to Trump so that they can continue complaining about him...... because heaven fucking forbid that we start to transition to social services like France or Sweden or anything like that.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-18

God save me from the Bernie Bronies.

If you prefer Bernie to Biden, I actually agree. If you think Bernie could beat Trump, that's probably magical thinking, but you're entitled. But blaming CNN? Mainstream media bias? After Super Tuesday, Trump actually tweeted about a "coup" by CNN and MSNBC taking over the Democratic party, and BBs on Twitter actually agreed with him. "For once, Trump is right." I mean, it's not exactly a.conspiracy theory, but then again, isn't it? I remember when words like "coup" and "hoax" used to mean things. "Hoax" used to mean a completely fabricated public lie.Now it means "only a few thousand people died".

I just decided a long time that I wasn't going to be able to pick the nominee. Not my decision. So I'm just gonna go with whatever happens. I think its obvious that Trump would rather run against Bernie. But fuck it, if Trump wins, we fight on. Which means we hold to the idea of the truth. If we embrace lies, even comforting lies about the mainstream media controlling everyone, the liars have won.

SolRo - 2020-03-19

yeah yeah conservatives are really worried about the nomination being “stolen” from sanders...

not, say, hoping to sow infighting on the left, leading to apathy and 3rd party voting from democratic voters.

SolRo - 2020-03-19

And trump didn’t want to run against sanders, he didn’t have a senate frothing at the bit to investigate him like he does biden.

But when it was looking like sanders was winning, trump was attacking him a lot. As soon as he started losing trump started to parrot the stolen nomination lines.

Just stop whining and go vote blue if you want to win.

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-03-19

I can't wait for my Libertarian bros to eat some of that Biden pie. Mmmmm tastes like freedom.

That guy - 2020-03-19

JHM you have no idea what you're talking about. There has been steady bias against Sanders on CNN, MSNBC and onward.

Keep flappin' your lips, though.

exy - 2020-03-19

Chu talkin bout JHM, CNNBetC ain't want no Commie in office. Trump ain't want no cogent opponent. Candidate Biden materially implies the Trumpening. No one's putting down the bong long enough to vote for senile grandpa number two, jesus christ.

matlock - 2020-03-19

I would never have guessed that a news organization owned by a multi-billion dollar, multinational conglomerate was biased.

godot - 2020-03-19

Pre-Covid-19, I thought Biden had a near-even chance, but Sanders' past would be effectively weaponized against him in swing states and suburbs, resulting in disastrous down ballot for Dems.

Post-Covid-19, I'm hard pressed to think of a single Dem candidate this season who couldn't beat Trump (with down markets, an employment crisis, an an avoidable plague, what's left to like?). Maybe Delaney.

That guy - 2020-03-19

godot, I hope you're right but I fear you're wrong.

Diligence - 2020-03-19

It's now obvious that Biden will win the primary. Biased or not, the media didn't give him the win. Black voters did. I think that was smart of them.

The question now is, will Bernie support Biden or support Trump?

I think he'll support Biden. They like each other, you can tell.

That guy - 2020-03-19

WHAT.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-19

Duh. Everybody has a bias, and mainstream media has mainstream bias. There needs no ghost from the grave to tell us this. What I don't accept is that CNN is determining the outcome. And people who complain about a mainstream media agenda are never without an agenda.

Here's a story whose details I only half-remember. Some guy was mad because CNN didn't talk enough about an antisemitic protestor at a.Sanders event, and he confronted a reporter. "You create a narrative.", he said. But who's really trying to create a narrative here? The antisemitic protestor was reported. He wasn't covered up. The Bernie Brony was trying to make something more of him.

And I don't accept the implication, tucked away in your narrative, that picking Biden as the nominee is what will give us a second Trump term, because Bernie would.win. Conventional wisdom is to be challenged, but bronyism is too often a bunch of new assumptions.

That guy - 2020-03-19

Yeah fuck you JHM, your argument is that propaganda exists and yet doesn't do anything.

you're a fucking idiot, and I'm done interacting with you

Diligence - 2020-03-19

He’s right though. And not only is he right, he’s talking to you reasonably and politely. If that makes you furious it reflects on you not him.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-19

My argument is that bias is intrinsic in nearly every narrative. Not the same thing as propaganda. But even if it is, there's a huge logical gap between "does not control everyone's descisions enough to decide the outcome", and "does nothing."

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-19

Biden gets the nomination because he got more primary votes. My candidate was Elizabeth Warren, so I'm not happy about that, either.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-19

>>>Yeah fuck you JHM, your argument is that propaganda exists and yet doesn't do anything.

So incredibly not my argument!

That guy - 2020-03-19

Diligence, he's not... it's a bunch of weasel words from him with a thin veneer of 'politeness'.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-20

I'm not being polite. I just seem polite next to That Guy's obvious tantrum. He's clearly got his head all the way up his ass on this. Did I have to poiint that out.

This is me: "I am very much in favor of Medicare for all, and I very much admire Bernie Sanders for his part in bringing America what it has always needed, a viable American Left. I think Trump is the real emergency. Trump vs. Sanders is not the battle I would choose, but I'm not going to get to choose. When Bernie was looking like the nominee, I was getting ready to be all in for Bernie. Now I feel a little relieved, but I want to see Biden make the Sanders supporters feel welcome and give them a place at the table."

This is That Guy: "Fuck you. You're a fucking idiot, and I'm done interacting with you."

Diligence - 2020-03-20

Guy, if you disagree with JHM, then explain your disagreement and defend it. Don’t shout. Don’t lie about what he said. That doesn’t work when the actual text of what he said is right there.

What is your actual disagreement? Do you really think Bernie lost Florida because CNN wasn’t nice enough to him? If so what’s your evidence?

That guy - 2020-03-20

There's so much bull-fucking-shit in JHM's opening reply, and he'll never change his mind, so it's not worth laying out my whole argument, but it centers around his smug denial that CNN/MSNBC "haven't" been tilting hard for Biden, or that that doesn't matter.

I'm not going line by line and link-reference by link-reference about his shit rhetoric and factless diarrhea because I don't care if he's being willfully stupid, or over-confident on his hot take, or whatever his fucking retardation is.

That guy - 2020-03-20

If he thinks CNN/MSNBC's bias is accidental, then it's just raw retardation and I hope he wears a fucking helmet.

Diligence - 2020-03-20

Let's not worry about what you think JHM secretly thinks. What is your actual difference of opinion with him? Is it that he distinguishes between bias and propaganda, or is it his criticism of “Bernie Bronies”?

I think CNN is biased but it isn’t propaganda the way
Fox and Russia Today are. Dismissing news as propaganda just because their narrative isn’t to your taste is a Trump move

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-20

This is exactly what you see with Bronies, over and over; a passionate argument against the legitimacy of the process, together with a refusal to argue about the legitimacy of the process.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-20

>>>I'm not going line by line and link-reference by link-reference about his shit rhetoric and factless diarrhea because I don't care if he's being willfully stupid, or over-confident on his hot take, or whatever his fucking retardation is.

Welcome, my friends, to the MARKETPLACE OF IDEAS.

>>>There's so much bull-fucking-shit in JHM's opening reply, and he'll never change his mind, so it's not worth laying out my whole argument, but it centers around his smug denial that CNN/MSNBC "haven't" been tilting hard for Biden, or that that doesn't matter.

Yes, we have a news outlet saying whatever it wants, framing the information according to its own narrative, a situation that has not existed since... EVERY ELECTION EVER!

What I have yet to hear is an explanation of the vote that includes the voters. CNN doesn't matter to the vote as much as the voters matter. That is the retarded thing that I believe.

godot - 2020-03-20

With you here, JHM.

Inslee and Warren supporter, begrudging Biden voter.

In a "normal year", I think Sander's ideas would go a lot further with a candidate who isn't Sanders.

I know suburban low-info voters, and they responded to Willie Horton, Swift boating, and Benghazi. Were he nominated, Sanders would be painted as a pinko traitor, and that would stick in enough of these low-info voters to be catastrophic to the down ballot. We'd have 7 reactionary supreme court justices. There was just less for the GOP slime to work with with most of the other candidates.

Evidently the core of the Democratic primary voting base came to similar conclusions. Biden is a relic, but the risk of a Trump reelection was just too great to risk. This electoral season is about apprehension, not aspiration.

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-03-20

I'm going to go way out on a limb and make predictions.

I don't think either of them will be president. I think Trump will die in office. He looks terrible. He's elderly AND obese. Biden is senile and I say that objectively. Biden will go along with whoever on the Dem side gets close to him. He will not be steering that ship, he'll be a puppet if he gets in.

I think either Pence or some other Republican will have to step up to the plate and then win the election.

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-03-20

Pence has been in charge for the most part anyway. There is no secret about this. Trump even said Pence would be doing most of the work. He has all the legal and constitutional expertise. Trump is a figurehead and he always has been. Pence is the one at the wheel so when he becomes president (and I think he probably will) he will at least understand the situation going on around him.

Biden constantly looks like he's struggling to understand what is happening and that frightens me.

Diligence - 2020-03-20

I want Trump to live long enough to lose in a November wipeout. Then I want him to get coronavirus and die very, very slowly and painfully. I want them to use the best possible medical tech to keep him going, but for it to barely work, so that each breath is a drawn-out nightmare of agony.

As he lies there in January, drowning in his own fluids and spite, I want him to hear all day on FOX the news of the Biden inauguration and the Trump family's bankrupcy after the seizure of their hidden Deutche Bank accounts. By night, I want a Latina nurse whose family were among his victims to whisper to him long and lurid all the suffering that will be visited on him in Hell.

It's not a hundredth of what he deserves, but it's a start.

Republicans are going to push the "Biden is senile" lie hard for the next nine months. He's always had sleepy eyes and a loose way of speaking. Don't forget, so far he's been sharp enough to win.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-20

I don't trust charges of bias. One thing we should have learned from the by now from Fox News is that every propagandist uses charges of "bias" to justify outright lies. "Bias" is usually about editorial decisions, like not making a major figure out of an antisemitic protestor at a Sanders rally. No editor makes a decision that doesn't piss someone off.

Does CNN lie? Persistenty misrepresent facts? Without correcting them?

Diligence - 2020-03-20

SolRo was at a Sanders rally?

That guy - 2020-03-22

Wear a helmet, retard.

casualcollapse - 2020-03-19

You just COVID-19 them by the pussy, you can do
anything

Waugh - 2020-03-19

that’s not what gaslighting means dipshit

Gmork - 2020-03-19

that's not how rating systems work, dipshit

Anaxagoras - 2020-03-19

What? That's exactly what gaslighting means. "Rewriting the past in a dishonest manner and pretending that things were always like that." That's gaslighting.

Lemon is using the term correctly. What are you talking about?

Waugh - 2020-03-19

hi gmork are you still a totally sad fucking idiot

Gmork - 2020-03-19

Hi waugh are you still a pathetic bitter trash cone with no redeeming qualities whatsoever

Waugh - 2020-03-19

nice cloudflare ddos protection btw. it looks like a velvet rope around a septic tank.

SolRo - 2020-03-19

Ok groomer

Waugh - 2020-03-19

anyway big shoutout to my haters for all their help turning this whole site into such a miserably tedious pit. at least 2/3 of the regulars here ought to be killed.

Gmork - 2020-03-19

The reason everyone hates you patently on display along with your usual indefensible vague vitriol

Simillion - 2020-03-19

hey its waugh, also known as he who forever lives with a tampon rammed all the way up his ass

TeenerTot - 2020-03-20

As a user of tampons, I resent the waste of a perfectly good tampon there.

Two Jar Slave - 2020-03-20

C'mon guys, 'velvet rope around a septic tank' was a great line.

And Waugh's right: this isn't gaslighting as I understand it. Gaslighting is about using lies to make your victims doubt their own senses, judgement, or sanity. Trump does that when he discredits scientists and news (my twitter feed is America's only trustworthy source for any information) and when he lies about plainly visible things like crowd sizes, but here he's just covering his ass.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-20

The term "gaslight" refers to movie from the forties where a husband tries to convince his wife that she's lost her mind. In the present day, political gaslighting refers to an attempt to push a false narrative that everyone knows is false.

It's a simple thing, really. When Trump denies saying something that we all heard him say, the fact that he's potus makes it consequential, but little boys have been.doing it all along.

Two Jar Slave - 2020-03-20

Isn't that just 'lying'? Why do we need to dilute a more niche term?

yogarfield - 2020-03-23

Hey it's Waugh, the guy with the Madza necklace. Drown any kittens lately?

Simillion - 2020-03-19

i dont think don lemon wins as many hearts and minds as anderson cooper because a.) ameruca is racist and b.) he is trying to go positive as much as possible like in his memorials of dead COVID victims to prove that this isn't a hoax

SolRo - 2020-03-19

Part of it is because he was so fucking stupid early in his career at CNN

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-03-20

He comes across as incredibly smug and superior. I hate him even when I agree with him.
