I'll be a half-century old in less than 30 days and I'm just so fucking sick of old people running shit.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-05-22

Counterpoint: 7 days ago, Mark Zuckerberg turned 36.

When Trudeau was running for PM of Canada in 2015, the main attack ad against him had the slogan "He's just not ready.", as explicitly ageism as you can manage. Dude was 44 at the time. The mean age of a member of Parliament was in the mid-50s, in the Senate it was in the mid-60s.

In social studies in junior high we learned about "gerontocracy" in the context of the Soviet Union: only the old party guys could ever become leader, and they all trickled up to the stop by not dying and never quitting, so eventually everything was run by old people at the top. This then made the State unflexible and brittle. This was literally a warning to us teenagers about not letting old people take over. Goddamn it.

Zuckerberg is only powerful because the awful old men running the country don't understand what he does and don't care as long as he keeps kicking them some of the money.

TL:DR Zuckerberg is only powerful because... money.

I really enjoyed this, but Cody lost me at his sweeping conclusions about Star Wars, Star Trek, and Joe Biden. This wasn't a story about old people holding onto power. It wasn't about Jeffrey Katzenberg still making the decisions at Disney. This is about a failing start-up. This is about a bad idea for an app. Younger people have bad ideas for apps. Remember PEEPLE? What's unusual is that someone had a lot of money to throw at this bad idea. Money, not age, is the defining factor.

Remind me, how did that turn out?

The thing is, if Kazenberg was really running things, he could make us watch his stupid app. But he can't.

Well he won, and then got re-elected with a minority government in 2019. The conservatives ended up also running a "younger" candidate. In 2019 we also got our youngest MP ever for Nunavut and she's pretty awesome.

Jesus Christ, what app can I buy to skip this guy's insufferable humor between the info

I think YouTube Chartreuse gives you that option
