Okay, literally everyone has caught on that these will be used for unspeakable evil, and we're hopelessly spiraling towards a future where prying one of the dog ones off your groin comes with an assaulting an officer charge.
But did they ever actually come up with a surface level cover story as to what these things are FOR?
I know there's a million proposed uses that straight up WILL NOT be happening, like us riding these things to work or everyone gets a robot butler, but did they ever lay out what they're supposed to be developing these things for, or is it just straight up to hurt people from day one?
Because "We're just doing research into this because we can" seems like a pretty piss-poor reason to spend hundreds of millions and 15 years of research on something you have no intended purpose for.
