Questions.
The facial expressions she makes at 0:05 and 0:10
How would you describe those expressions?
Are they the same expression, or two different ones?
Are there emoticons for them?

I have no clue and I have no computer in which to compare them with

Tying into my recent mention of the "Just have more than $1000 in your account!" yuppie defense of minimum balance fees.

After getting my covid shot, I joked to some friends about how I instantly forgot that Elon Musk got rich off of diamond mines and Bill Gates is the nerdy version of the monopoly man.

They quickly gave me a real talking to about talking smack about Bill Gates, because he cured Malaria. Makes me really reflect on how some charity work erases how you got all the money to do it in the first place.

I also changed phones sometime last year, and went without one for a few days, reminding me how utterly fucked people starting from scratch are.

Bill Gates is buying up all the farmland.

Someone should maybe look into that.

Look at what really triggered the Spanish civil war. Contrast with Billy G. and his vacuum purchase of arable farm land, not just in North America, but elsewhere.

Oxford University reversed its decision to make its vaccine public and instead sold it to AstraZeneca after pressure from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

I'm constantly amazed that patents, computer code, and copyright resulting from public funding aren't automatically required to be royalty-free, open-source, and public domain. Like it's pretty much a no-brainer, right?

Nominal - 2021-04-23

Of course you shouldn't have smack talked Bill Gates and other billionaires. They've donated to CHARITY. How much of YOUR networth have you donated to CHARITY?

Ironically, no-brainers are not no-brainers in the land of no brains.

It's weird to me that people are not furiously angry that big pharma companies took heaps of public money to develop for-profit vaccines that they're now selling to us.

A wireless service provider will be more than happy to sell you a new phone if you purchase a plan.

They'll even lend you the money to buy it from them.

And they'll gladly break the loan down into easy monthly payments tacked onto the monthly fee for the plan.

And if you're really careful with the phone, it might survive until you've made the last payment.

But if it doesn't, they'll be happy to loan you money to buy ANOTHER phone.

Of course, you still have to finish paying off the old phone.

And if you're late making payments, there's penalties.

This is how poor people get cellphones and a massive load of debt all at the same time.

Capitalism is all about convenience.

Every phone that crapped out early on me was due to the battery (limited number of recharge cycles) or the charging port (made of the flimsiest metal that will warp if a cord snags even slightly).

Of course if you have an extended warranty or insurance plan, it won't cover it because they'll say the damage is "wear and tear" or some other bullshit, then proceed to quote a ridiculous repair price to scare you into buying a new phone.

boner - 2021-04-28

Sales of expensive phones went through the roof during the pandemic, even as middle class people stopped leaving their houses for more than an hour a day.
