NEW ZEALAND BEEF?!??!?!! ***tries to contain vomit***

fluffy - 2007-06-30

OHS NOES GLOBALIZATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

citrusmirakel - 2007-06-30

Wait, so your marketing department decided they were going to attack McDonald's on something, and they eventually decided on that?

Way to find their one weak point.

drcrypt - 2007-07-01

Believe it or not, this is a huge fucking deal in Ireland, where they dogmatically support "100% Real Irish" products. Over here, McDonald's has to assure everyone in every damn commercial that their burgers are made with "100% Real Irish Beef and just a pinch of salt."

To be fair, here, the issue seems to be more about supporting local farmers on a small island than xenophobia.

IrishWhiskey - 2008-09-27

Yeah, supporting local Irish beef I can understand. But really, hearing that McDonald's uses New Zealand Beef comes as a relief to me considering...

...

Okay, you know what? This ad is bullshit.

McDonald's hamburgers can last for 20 years without even remotely going stale. No way that's New Zealand Beef. That's a chemical process, not an animal.

Mike Tyson?! - 2007-06-30

NEW ZEALAND? NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE!

Caminante Nocturno - 2007-06-30

Man, I can't even tell if this is serious or not.

Xenocide - 2007-06-30

New Zealand? They don't even speak English ther-wait, they do. But they're all heathens-no, wait, it's a mostly Christian populace. But it's full of brown peo-no, wait, it's mostly white.

Geez, A&W can't even get xenophobia right. New Zealand is one of the least forgein places ever. Hell, this'll probably get people to eat at McDonald's so they can say "my burger came from Middle-Earth!"

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2007-06-30

Way to take advantage of the right ammo there, A&W

johnnyhamhock - 2007-06-30

Hogwash! Everyone knows New Zealanders only have mutton, and to a lesser extent pork. The scarcity of said pork led to the proliferation of the 'more-pork' bird, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Camonk - 2007-06-30

Where is this "New Zealand" anyhow? And how come I've never heard of it? Why are you buying beef from made up space planets, McDondald's? New Zealand?!

KnowFuture - 2007-06-30

don't give a shit what country they kill the rats in.

Merzbau - 2007-06-30

What REALLY gets me is that New Zealand probably has much more stringent safety and health standards on their food than we do.

GravidWithHate - 2007-07-01

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A%26W_All-American_Food#International Multinational corporations appealing to mindless nationalist jingoism. And I think to myself... what a wonderful world...

RandomFerret - 2007-12-16

Speaking as a filthy foreigner, I have to say I prefer my beef not to be pumped full of corn syrup or whatever you people put in it that makes all your food taste so bad.

Binro the Heretic - 2008-01-20

Pretty much corn and ground-up meat by-products. We feed our cows the bits of their predecessors that can't be turned into anything edible.

Think about the parts of the cow that are too nasty to be ground up into hot dogs. We grind those up, mix them with grain and feed the whole mess to the next generation of cattle.

Beef raised in New Zealand, South America and other places is primarily grass-fed and therefore much leaner. This is why most fast-food places buy their beef from non-American sources.

And you don't even want to think about the high-density feed lines, growth hormones or constant injections of antibiotics.
