When do we storm the White House, haul Bush's retard ass out into the street, and yell "YOU'RE FIRED!" at him?
...or at the very least, bring him all our dirty laundry?
|
Exegesis_Saves - 2007-07-04
Listening to Olbermann fume with righteous anger is like coming on Lindsay Lohan's tits....or so I imagine.
|
Frostilicus - 2007-07-04 It's not, although I do like to preface it with "IN THAT MOMENT, MR. BUSH"

When Bush's approval rating and congresses approval rating dips below 5%....are we allowed to revolt?
|
Xenocide - 2007-07-04
The great thing about Keith, and what sets him apart from almost every other commentator on TV, is that he doesn't assume his viewers are third graders. He talks to us like adults and respects our intelligence, using big words and taking his time to address complex subjects instead of just going "Bush is a fink" and bringing on two diametrically opposed pundits to yell at each other for five minutes. That alone is worth five stars.

Caminante Nocturno - 2007-07-04
Guys like Olbermann are a rarity in the news business, but they're the ones you always remember.
|
KozmicBlue - 2007-07-04
Hey Keith Olbermann, let's have sex.
|
hornung - 2007-07-04
Olbermann was wasted on snide sports comments. This is where he is supposed to be.

is MORE deserving of jail time than Scooter. Please, give it a try.

jrr - 2007-07-04 Revdrew: on the war issue, I present Christopher Hitchens.
Oh, and fuck Olberman and his preaching. "HOW DARE YOUUUUU?"
|
Xenocide - 2007-07-04 You're not actually presenting Chris Hitchens, you're just namedropping. Give us a video link, Presenty McGee.
But yeah, fuck Olberman for caring about things. Last thing we need a journalist who's as passionate about the fate of the nation as all the other ones are about Paris Hilton's new butt tattoo.
|
futurebot - 2007-07-05 "Screed", eh? I guess "diatribe" and "tirade" have become passe among the mad libs critics of the right
|
LetsFistAgain - 2007-10-23 Ah yes Mr.Hitchens who got drunk and insulted a priest? Who got drunk and called for genocide of Iranians? Yes quite a remarkable comparison i must say.

citrusmirakel - 2007-07-04
Olbermann's screeds do the same thing for me as Jed Bartlet's speeches. I watch it and feel happy and proud of the American republic, until the speech is over and I realize that nothing has changed.
Five stars for a nine minute suspension of reality.
|
Camonk - 2007-07-04
I was trying to think if I would five star a guy even if I disagreed with him completely, and he was a supporter of Bush, and so on, as long as he were as coherent and intelligent and genuinely incensed as Olbermann without losing his ability to speak sedately and calmly. Then I realized I'll never have to face this decision because the best the pro-Bush team can do has always been Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity, who are about as eloquent as toasters.
PS: No, Keith, have sex with me!
|
Hooker - 2007-07-04
Put me down for a fuck Keith Olbermann. The left doesn't need an answer to O'Reilly and Limbaugh.
|
Caminante Nocturno - 2007-07-04 If you think Olbermann is the left's equivalent of those two assholes, then you are a horrible judge of character.
|
|
Hooker - 2007-07-04 I'm calling you now, baby!
He's a leftist sycophant. He constantly refers to September 11 (including going to the crash site to attack Bush) as a way of undermining a discussion. His grandstanding is completely ludicrious, _way_ beyond any of his pundit contemporaries (and his righteous indignation is exactly the same whether he's talking about Bush's unconstitutional wiretapping or Paris Hilton's latest embarassment). Plus, he's just obnoxious.
He strikes me with the stink of some producer thinking that O'Reilly is getting great ratings from one half of the country, so it should stand to reason that there's another half of the country that's just a great, untapped market, so dig up some sports commentator and write his lines for him. It's the same thing as shit like The Half Hour News Hour, except sidestepping in the opposite direction. Fuck this guy.
|
chalk - 2007-07-04 "He's a leftist sycophant. He constantly refers to September 11 as a way of undermining a discussion."
I think your own government has pretty much made it impossible to have a conversation about politics *without* mentioning 9/11, terror, terrorists, or wars on terror. (Yes, I'm assuming you're American)
But out of curiosity, if you hate Olbermann, who do you prefer?
|
Hooker - 2007-07-04 As a pundit? I don't prefer any of them.
And I am Canadian, actually. But for all intents and purposes, I think we have as much of an interest in U.S. politics as a given American.
Anyway, I have no problem addressing 9/11. But using it as a tool to push forth an agenda is disgusting regardless of who is doing it. I find Guiliani repulsive for the same reason, for example.
|
Xenocide - 2007-07-05 I don't know how you can listen to Keith and compare him with the likes of Rush and Bill. Like I said in my rating, Keith is probably the only pundit on TV who doesn't think his viewers are trainables. The 9/11 thing might be a fair point, but the right keeps bringing it up, and will continue to do so for years to come. Not responding means opening yourself up to the "soft on terror" accusation. It does create a rather unfortunate ping-pong effect, though.

I like Olbermann, but -1 star for the oration. He's right, he's intelligent, but his delivery is so stilted and melodramatic that I almost can't sit through it.
|
minimalist - 2007-07-05 This is my feeling as well. The whole "HOW DARE DARE DARE YOU, SIR" thing does get tiresome, even when he's right
|
jrr - 2007-07-06
I never knew that Caminante Nocturno, famous masturbator to pedo-related anime, was a douchebag truther.

Olberman is the new Howard Beale. And frankly, I'm mad as hell too, and I don't wanna take it anymore either. But like citrusmirakel said, words and action are two somewhat different things.
(ok but no, seriously, it's been a few centuries, do we as a nation even know HOW to revolt anymore? When is the next tea shipment to Boston harbor coming in?)
