They're joking. This has to be a big joke. They're all just joking. Yeah. Ha, ha, guys! Funny!

dr tits - 2009-05-21

these are the people who go home and neglect their kids
and make them feel as though they'll never be good enough
to live up to expectations...

and... i watched mr rogers
AND I KNIT MY OWN SWEATERS!!!
connection? eh? eh?
i never realized how much mr rogers brainwashed me into thinking i was good enough, smart enough or special enough to have dope skillz like knitting.

i will say, though, that mr rogers did glorify blue collar work..... i still retain that childhood dream of working at the hotwheels factory clipping in front wheel pairs and wearing a hair net, despite having a college education.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-04-01

it does seem like a parody of Fox News, doesn't it?

coprolalia - 2007-07-18

Is anybody else starting to see the They Live ghouls when they look at these "people"?

Stog - 2007-07-18

I want to severely injure these people

tamago - 2007-07-18

Oh fuck you FoxNews. Fuck you with a red hot poker right in your ass.

tamago - 2007-07-18

Oh fuck that little LSU cocksucker who originally said all that bullshit too.

GravidWithHate - 2007-07-18

...

I ...

Okay, fuck a pithy comment, my emotions can only be properly expressed by the ritualistic rape and murder of everyone in this clip, anyone want in?

tamago - 2007-07-18

Only if we can dunk them in lemon juice after we cut them all over first.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-07-08

Use the cheese grater.

thebaronsdoctor - 2008-07-30

As angry as this makes me, I don't think that that's what Mr. Rogers would want. Even though these people are misguided, screeching jackasses, Mr Rogers still loves them just the way they are.

kingofthenothing - 2009-01-21

Kill. Rape. Plunder. Burn.

Not neccessarily in that order.

Hooker - 2007-07-18

OMFG HATE!

Derrida - 2007-07-18

We need a cull.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2007-07-18

I want to throw beehives on these people's heads.

mysterycar - 2007-07-18

i would love to fill the anchor's eyes with sand and rub his eyelids up and down

Portaxx - 2007-07-18

I guess Fox News hates Jesus too, because Jesus thinks everyone's special too.

DMKA - 2007-07-18

Of course they hate Jesus. He was a SENSATIONALIST LIBERAL. All his commie talk of loving your fellow man and peace.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-07-08

All that "healing the sick" and "feeding the masses." We don't need that Health Care or Welfare bullshit!

Sometimes, I'm sort of sad that important paper documents aren't set in stone.

kingofthenothing - 2009-01-21

"Turn the other cheek? Then the terrorists will win! And what's all this meek shall inherit the earth bullshit? That's not how you win football games, son! You don't win wars by being meek! And thou shalt not judge? Where would American Idol be if we didn't have judges?"

PegLegPete - 2007-07-18

I watch some of this morning show every few days and you can tell the hosts are dumb. It's depressing.

Jingoro - 2007-07-18

the thing to do, really, is stuff two weasels into a cast iron pot and invert it over their abdoment. Then you light a fire on top of the pot.

Aernaroth2 - 2007-07-18

Fox News doesn't like it when you feel good about yourself. For obvious reasons. Man, they can't even say it with a straight face.

Also, someone should find asian dubs of Mr. Rogers to shut these punks up.

Xenocide - 2007-07-18

The idea of baby boomers accusing anyone of having a sense of entitlement carries with it enough irony to power Las Vegas for a thousand years. Double points for a bunch of people who are paid to sit on couches and read from a teleprompter thinking they have the right to lecture ANYONE about hard work.

Did these idiots not notice the episodes where Mr. Rogers took kids to see people at work? He did plenty to get kids excited about future careers. The difference is that he didn't buy into the notion that Fox's whole ridiculous thesis is based on: the idea that what makes someone special is holding a job. Rogers believed work was important, but he resisted the idea that you should define yourself solely by what you do for a living. He simply taught kids that what you do is not who you are: "who you are" is a much more complex and meaningful concept. It's not something that ceases to exist if you get laid off or can't find work.

I can see why the Fox crowd would have a problem with this.

Zhou Fang - 2007-07-19

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2007-07-19

The man was a secular saint. I can think of no other way to describe him.

Billy Buttsex - 2007-07-19

Best response ever. I love you Xenocide.

enki don't - 2007-07-19

goddamn straight.

dead_cat - 2008-02-04

So long as these idiots all die of excruciatingly painful intestinal cancer, I think I can deal with my anger over this godawful "news" story.

DON'T LET ME DOWN, UNIVERSE

mashedtater - 2008-11-03

"Double points for a bunch of people who are paid to sit on couches and read from a teleprompter thinking they have the right to lecture ANYONE about hard work."

yes yes yes OMG YES!

also, where is Daniel Striped Tiger? for whatever reason when I see his name I think of Mr Rodgers.

KnowFuture - 2007-07-18

...because getting self-esteem into a kid early in life obviously has FUCK ALL TO DO with individual achievement later on.

glenn - 2007-07-19

Fo the life of me, I can't figure out whether the loom comment was intended to be sarcastic or not.

Bebido - 2007-07-19

Fox news cant tarnish Mr.Rogers beautiful reputation. This man has fought for public television! What good has fox news ever done?

bac - 2007-07-19

AHHHHH!!!!! those fuckers, those sick sick evil fucking human beings. what the unholy fuck is wrong with them? I mean for fucks sake you have to take Dahmer strengh evil suppositories, to be that fucked up. FUCK. oh side note...Spock was totally disciplined, stupid woman.

I want to shit in their hearts.

Afgh - 2007-07-19

FUCK!!!!!! THIS!!!!!! FOREVER!!!!!!

She seems to be "joking" by calling him evil. But still...

bopeton - 2007-07-19

Yeah, kids are pussies and feel entitlement nowadays. I'll buy that 100%.

Blaming Mr. Rogers? I hope they all die of stab wounds.

ztc - 2007-07-19

Cool. Genuine evil.

klingerbgoode - 2007-07-19

they've even got the weatherman spoutin' off!

fox news is insane.

Old_Zircon - 2007-07-19

When I was little I thought Mr. Rogers was so creepy!

Pandatronic - 2007-07-19

I don't think I'll ever be able to pinpoint a single underlying cause of me becoming a teacher, but the fact that people like this exist definitely has something to do with it.

RockBolt - 2007-07-19

If Mr Rogers could respond he would do so with eloquent and soft spoken kindness. I however would have to let an aluminum bat do the talking, cause my throat is a little sore

Senator_Unger - 2007-07-19

They're pissed off because they're yuppie douchebags who expect their children to be treated like the only children that matter, not "everyone's special" and your Timmy is just as entitled to a good life as Johnny. My dad used to coach t-ball when I was growing up in the early 90's and he would have these yuppie assholes come up to him screaming about how their children were the best and deserved to be the stars of every game. Of course, he ignored them and gave every kid a chance to succeed which I'm sure pissed them off to no end.

On a side note, I agree, let's beat the crap out of them.

Rudy - 2007-07-19

So many reasons for a perfect rating:

- Mr. Rogers tries on a cap with a bill that looks longer than his arm

- Mr. Rogers tries on a leather jacket on the Arsenio Hall show

- Fox News has a button that plays "Awwwww!" whenever they want to make fun of whiny liberals.

- Fox News' version of kindergarten:

"OK, listen up you worthless little bitches! You want a snack? Go wash my car and do a good job for once!"

commandocucumber - 2009-01-02

your last point takes me waaaay back...

Caminante Nocturno - 2007-07-19

Nothing they say can ever take away from what this man was and what he did. All this clip did was remind me once again about how great a man Rogers was and still is. It brought a smile to my face to remember him.

I can't hate the people at Fox News for this, all I can feel for them is pity.

erratic - 2007-07-19

FOX anchors are "special"

Hooper_X - 2007-07-19

Fuck THOSE guys.

Aubrey McFate - 2007-07-19

I'm giving these people the benefit of the doubt and assuming that they were merely jumping on easily sensationalized findings for a ratings boost. As opposed to, you know, actually hating the nicest and most docile man ever created.

But with Fox News, who knows.

Ialdabaoth - 2007-07-19

Not enough knives in the world to stab these people as much as they deserve.

thebaronsdoctor - 2007-07-19

this entire clip is like Stalin blaming Gandhi for war.

asian hick - 2007-07-21

Letter I sent to Fox News:

Hi,
I wasn't aware you guys had switched "Half Hour News Hour" to that time slot, but I think the program has really improved.

The satire piece of Mr. Rogers being evil was perfect. The irony of baby boomers complaining about children feeling a sense of entitlement was spot on. The distortion of study results to fit a preconceived agenda was also a perfect parody of the modern liberal media. The fact that, of all the shortcomings in the modern American household, Mr. Rogers is being blamed was also an excellent mockery of misplaced priorities.

I thought that bringing the weatherman into the scene made it a little too comical, but when he rattled off the line about how, of all the difference between Asian and Occidental culture it must have been not having Mr. Rogers there that accounted for the difference in mindset, I nearly cried, with laughter of course.

I'd like to see more things along this vein of satire. Perhaps how Ghandi created the unrest that plagues the developing world?

Thanks,

Pandatronic - 2007-07-23

Prime directive?

Endoris - 2007-08-12

Thank you.

Tyfus - 2007-09-17

No, this is a news outlet. The PD doesn't include them.

asian hick - 2007-09-30

The PD is there so that we don't stop the flow of crazy/horrible from whatever is being featured. If I could somehow stop FOX News, I'd gladly accept a banning.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-07-08

Fuck the Prime Directive.

Sometimes, this country needs a goddamned Captain Kirk approach. I'd accept banning for this action as well. Haven't done it, but would, if I could be so sharp.

FABIO2 - 2007-07-23

"Everyone has to work hard in order to earn being special. If you end up poor, it's your own fault! Now how about voting to get those nasty dividend taxes cut? They're killing those honest people who got where they are today by working hard."

plaid_knight - 2007-07-27

I got about three seconds in before I had to turn it off because I was trembling with incoherent rage. This would induce leaping-over-the-table if the anchorman said this to me in person.

Pie Boy - 2007-07-31

I think the real reason for all this spite is that the Fox News anchors are jealous that Mr. Rogers could go out in daylight and eat onions.

IrishWhiskey - 2008-01-06

I think you mean garlic. Unless Fox Anchors have a bizarre allergy as a result of them being from a different planet.

detc - 2009-03-27

It is not by their hands that they were once again given a broadcast. They were called there by executives who wish to pay them salaries.

Lazer Chachi - 2009-12-02

Salaries? They steal men's souls and make them their slaves!

revdrew - 2007-08-12

I can't really get angry over something this ridiculous.

dead_cat - 2007-08-27

Well, gee. I guess kids are only important and special until they're born.

chairsforcheap - 2008-04-28

BOOYAH

Cleaner82 - 2008-05-31

Okay, this comment is priceless.

Billie_J_Buttfuck - 2008-07-30

Bulbed.

Merkwuerdigeliebe - 2008-07-12

Fair and balanced.

I wonder if these people realize how utterly worthless and insignificant each of their lives are, particularly when compared to a truly great man like Fred Rogers. No one will remember any of their names on the quinquennial celebration of their deaths. They will not be mourned internationally. A viewer may shrug her shoulders and say "oh, huh, that guy died. His new replacement is cute. What time is Dancing with the Stars on?" At most, they will be given a multi-day tribute similar to that recently-deceased Tim Russert received, only on an infintesimally smaller scale, to correspond to their importance: That of the empty suits and skirts which occupy daytime chit-chat TV.

Most likely, the reason why TV news personalities honor each others' passings with the TV news equivalent of presidential state funerals is because they realize how ethereal and temporal their fame is. If you can call it fame - these people would not be recognized in the street, or in a deli. You may be able to pick out their over-filled, under-saturated egos in a crowd, though. They will not be remembered, and for a good reason - they never did anything with their lives worth remembering, whether they sat in front of a camera and gabbed about things so mundane it's painful to watch, like these walking-talking Barbie and Ken dolls, or spun pop-news stories like "real journalists," their lives are about as empty as their suits. Even if they have 33 year transnational careers like Rogers - which they won't; they aren't smart, talented, creative, unique, or likeable enough - they would still be sitting in the same set chatting about celebrity gossip and how "public television is the voice of evil."

Fred Rogers began his career by purchasing the set materials out of his salary of a week. That first show was called "Children's Corner." Fred Rogers produced it, worked the puppet theater, and played the organ. To borrow the title of the article where I got that fact: "Can you say 'Role Model,' boys and girls?" But what about these Fox Friends? They are insignificant, interchangeable, caustic. In truth, they are everything that Fred Rogers was not. They just talk and talk about what other people have accomplished - people like Mr. Rogers, who dedicated their lives to helping people - in Mr. Roger's special case, instructing children in culture and values, and opening their minds to the world; entertaining children with wholesome, positive programming; personally introducing them to people like Yo-Yo Ma, who would sit down and play the cello for them, in a private performance just for them in their living rooms; Mr. Rogers became a family friend, not just "the guy on TV."

But what have these Fox Friends produced themselves? Nothing. What will be their enduring legacy, this video on YouTube and PoeTV? Great, they'll be preserved for the derision of future generations, while my grandchildren sit in front of the TV's newest hypertechnological replacement and joyfully watch who? That's right: Mr. Rogers, a role model, not an empty cardigan sweater.

Merkwuerdigeliebe - 2008-07-12

Mr. Rogers earned a Lifetime Achievement Award. I'd like to see them show me their Pulitzers, or hell, even an Emmy.

Keefu - 2008-07-26

Lies, lies, LIES! - 2008-08-06

If God likes these people just the way they are, then maybe God could use a touch more discernment.

mobius - 2008-09-02

Mayberry Pancakes has already said all that needs to be said on this topic:

http://www.poe-news.com/forums/sp.php?fi=OFFTOPICN&ti=10015030 21&pi=1001503123

Fox News needs a train run up their cunt.

ZBX - 2008-10-20

WTF? Mr. Rogers has been spreading his special brand of child crippling evil for thirty+ years. So which generation are these imbeciles babbling about? He was broadcasting while these vapid morons were growing up so how did they manage to escape Fred Rogers' mental maiming of Americans? I doubt anyone could be a TV "personality" without having watched a good deal of it themselves growing up.

Shotgun Jackson - 2008-12-28

I bet the woman in blue sucked her way to a few A's

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2009-09-26

Professor retracts Mr Rogers smears

http://thinkprogress.org/2007/07/07/rogers-retraction/

Ocyrus - 2010-01-24

Isn't the conservative message against legal abortions based upon their belief that every baby is special? So, why is Scott Roeder not as beloved in this country as Mr. Rogers is? Oh, that's right they both believe everyone is special and important, its just that Mr. Rogers wasn't a F*CKING FASCIST.

exy - 2019-02-13

Ugh, sorry, I didn't notice in time that the video I submitted for a fixed link had some cutesy added editing.. but I also haven't found a plainer vid yet
