Man, this takes me back...
My brother always thought Raggedy Ann deserved to die here for being stupid enought to tell the guy she had a candy heart.
It would piss him off every tiome we watched it.

Holy crap, nostalgia bomb. I used to watch this movie all the time as a kid, but only now do I appreciate how surreal and complex some of this animation is. An entire backdrop that's alive and constantly in motion is pretty damn ambitious, but that's Richard Williams for you.

I wish this were on DVD.

Xenocide,

Not quite as good, but nearly:

A lot of the songs (by Sesame Street's Joe Raposo) hold up quite well, particularly "Candy Hearts and Paper Flowers," "What Do I See?", and the Camel's song, "Blue," which for some reason didn't quite make it through the Hopper.

The black taffy of the woods with a thousand young.

Jeriko-1 - 2007-08-25

Agreed. Willy Wonka meets Shub Niggurath.

Kharnov - 2008-07-02

This is exactly how I envision Cthulhu, but without the candy part.

'There’s one last thing I want to mention but it’s so insane I felt the need to give it its own paragraph. So, this movie was financed by the Bobbs-Merrill Company, which was the publishing arm of International Telephone & Telegraph (ITT). ITT wanted to put out a children’s movie as a PR move to make themselves look better after they were implicated as CIA collaborators in the 1973 Chilean coup d'état. Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure was financed by people who were complicit in the death of President Salvador Allende and the rise of the tyrant Pinochet. That is a strong contender for the strangest sentence I have ever typed. So, really, this movie was cursed before it was ever even made.'
