Its a great big universe
And we're all really puny
We're just tiny little specs
About the size of Mickey Rooney
Its big and black and inky
And we're all small and dinky
Its a great big universe
And we're not!

-1 for Numa Numa, -1 for the narrator being a patronizing smug-a-naut.

I'm not so concerned about the largeness of the universe as the bigger stars sitting right in our lap on a galactic scale that may be getting ready to go nova (or have already) and sterilize our solar system at any second.
Oh screw it, I'm going to go play WarCraft.

Christ, we truly are insignificant in the cosmic scheme of things.

About that picture of 3000 galaxies. I remember reading an article in a science journal that discussed the possibility that it may only a a couple dozen. Apparently, due to the fact that light bends and twists over long distances, we could be seeing a refraction/relection of the same galaxies over and over.
Anyhow, space is big, space is cool. 5 stars.

We aren't insignificant, we're generic! Once you take the lightyears into perspective, it kinda doesn't matter, since we'll never see folks in a galaxy far far away, since it was a long long time ago.
