That loop slide was never opened once over the many years I went there.

I'm so angry I never experienced this place. I constantly saw the ads during the summers my family spent in NJ.

My sister worked there. Her job was to sit on a perch above the Alpine Slide and call the paramedics when people flew off the track and got injured. Not if- when.

That park looks FUCKING AWESOME.

Well that guy was right about it having rides like no place else on earth...

All of my Jersey friends have a story about action park... those rides are absolutely insane, but sound funner than anything, providing you didn't locate anything or die.

Wow. I had forgotten all about Action Park. I so wanted to ride those go karts but my folks would never take me.

From the wiki: Park officials said this made the injury and death rate statistically insignificant. Nevertheless, the director of the emergency room at a nearby hospital said they treated from five to ten victims of park accidents on some of the busiest days, and the park eventually bought the township of Vernon extra ambulances to keep up with the volume.

Now THAT'S a theme park.

I was really young on my first and only trip to Action Park. All I rode was the Alpine Slide and I was scared shitless to move at anything other than what can best be described as a slow crawl. The people stuck behind me would grab their slides, hop off the track, step back in front of me, and then continue their rapid race towards total annihilation.

I really believe the last guy -- he's got the breathless fear/joy of someone who has just been in death's grip. And the lighting on his face gives him that creepy German Expressionist skullface look.

Man, all we Seattlites got was Enchanted Village, with nothing good in it except 40 year old nursery rhyme animatronics lifted from the 1962 World's Fair.

So... much... RUST.
