Actually, for my money the best scene in this movie is directly after this one.

zatojones - 2007-09-19

Yeah that's a good one too.

Operation Cornflakes - 2007-09-18

Always loved this.

mouser - 2007-09-18

I found the entire movie to be pretty good.

Lindner - 2007-09-18

Likewise.

athodyd - 2007-09-18

I think it was a very pretty movie to look at but I suspect in the original draft Ed Harris' character wore a top hat with the word EVIL on it in neon letters. And that hubris led to his downfall!

oddeye - 2007-09-18

zatojones has no taste. The movie is great.

EvilHomer - 2007-09-18

I've seen better Stalingrad films (like that German one from '93), but with all due respect to you two fine gentleman, Zato and Plank can suck it. The whole movie was good, and Soviet soldiers talking like Brits and melodramatic, apocryphal evil SS sniper-barons be damned.

glasseye - 2007-09-18

Pretty darn good movie. Not the best, but certainly enjoyable.

Caminante Nocturno - 2007-09-18

I also feel that this was a very good movie.

Billy Buttsex - 2007-09-18

A DUMB movie? Holy Jesus... Zatojones... what exactly do you watch? Only Kevin Smith movies?

Azmo23 - 2007-09-18

very entertaining ww2 movie. certainly not one of the best, but still good.
camping. camping!!! ed_harris57 is a noob

plank - 2007-09-18

Great scene but have to agree with Zato, the movie as a whole sucked.

Aelric - 2007-09-18

this was also my favorite scene in the first call of duty

yoyo1 - 2007-09-18

This movie is fully endorsed byt the Mccarthy committee of obsolete anticommunist propaganda.

Shion - 2007-09-18

Hey, lots of replicas of my rifle. Cool.

Bone_Vulture - 2007-09-19

After watching Der Untergang, movies where you have Germans and Soviets speaking their dialog in English feel retarded.

Sure, reading the subtitles takes an inch of effort, but the submersion factor is worth it.

FABIO2 - 2007-09-21

You can stop watching this movie soon after this scene (okay, fast forward to Rachel Weis' ass).

Seriously this movie sucked, and holy shit people are calling it "smart" ?

Take one of the most interesting encounters (fictional or otherwise) of World War 2 and put it on the backburner to give the audience a LOVE TRIANGLE. Also the dumbest sniper tactics ever dreamed of by a screenwriter. There's beardo obsession with realism, and then there's "what the fuck reality is this supposed to be" attention to realism. Standard sniper procedure is to cross open ground in the middle of a war zone after you think you shoot one dude? That was the best climax they could come up with to defeat the invincible evil German?

The book on this, War of the Rats, was much better. Read that instead.

"The one with the rifle shoots! When the one with the rifle gets killed, the one who is following picks up the rifle and shoots!"

As historical fiction, this movie is dumb as hell. As pure fiction, I dig it a lot. Partly for this sequence, partly for the overall feel, partly for the honest to god hottest sex scene in any film ever.

They saved their ammunition to shoot their own soldiers.
