President Bush thinks she was being rude. What he doesn't get is that this is how Irish reporters treat all politicians. They ask direct questions, and if they politicians starts dodging the issue or speaking in platitudes, the reporters stop them and call them on their bullshit. Dear God I wish they did that here.

Incidentally, they told her before the interview that if this went well, Carol Coleman (the reporter) would get a lovely exclusive with Laure Bush about her dresses, and what types of shoes she wears. After they told her she could expect to never be allowed near White House personnel again. Carol of course wasn't the least disturbed by this, as what is the point of being a political reporter if you are afraid to ask the questions that matter.

IrishWhiskey - 2007-09-26

In a related matter, Katie Couric recently told the National Press Club that the war was a mistake, the President misled the country, that they bungled the planning and that she would be willing to say this on air "if required". She also claims to have known this from the beginning of the war but was afraid to say anything for fear of being labeled unpatriotic.

Spot the difference between the two types of reporters....

Konversekid - 2007-09-26

You seriously have to admit that Ireland is an amazing, no bullshit country. To think if all reporters had a few shots of whiskey before each interview, they may actually have the balls to truly weed out people who simply are tools about there policies. What I truly love about them is they are completely against killing, but are all for a good beating; physically or verbally.

I also must admit, George Bush's ego is amazing. He is seriously trying to put himself in a good light, just for be being the first American president "calling" for a Palestinian state.

And what was that thing about America's values, and then saying that what they are doing isn't one of them, and that this shouldn't be seen as an American value as only a few thousand soldiers are currently fighting.

The entire part of the relationship between Ireland and the USA is complete bullshit. I just wish that the US finds a new president who doesn't pull up random shit to justify his actions.

Roachbud - 2007-09-26

Hey, this chick is allright, but don't write off all American reporters. The McClatchy papers were writing about how bullshit WMD were, eventually the rest came around. It was American who wrote that new Dead Certain book that makes W look like the dumbass he is. Seymour Hersh has exposed this administration repeatedly. Helen Thomas, Dan Rather, Matt Taibbi and others have come out against as well.

There's a fundamental difference between American journalism and the British journalism this chick seems to be following. Most American journalists have a hard-on for balance that stops them from making statements like the "world is a more dangerous place today" and confronting people on policy. What you see when American journalists get confrontational is the same question over and over again.

As for that Irish don't like to kill BS, tell that to the IRA.

SolRo - 2007-09-26

She didn't realy stop him nor call him on his bullshit, she just interrupted his mini speeches and then let him get back to it when he asked to finish.

biclops - 2007-09-26

"Nobody cares more about the death than I do" *twitch twitch smirk*

Severian - 2007-09-26

Let me finish let me finish let me finish.

oogaBooga - 2008-09-11

Dana Carvey's Ross Perot?

Blaise - 2007-09-26

Gatta love how he answers criticisms against his presidency by defending America.
Fuck you Bush ... GWB does not equal USA

cognitivedissonance - 2007-09-26

If he honestly believes HALF of what he's vomiting forth, he's crazier than we have previously assumed.

ramshackle - 2007-09-26

He believes all of it. He's just another Regan

ramshackle - 2007-09-26

"Reagan." well that was embarrassing

mon666ster - 2007-09-26

So that's what real journalism looks like. It's been so long I'd forgotten.

On an aside, I don't see what the White House is so up in arms about. That's the best I've seen Bush come across in years.

sosage - 2007-09-26

I reached for the close button every agonizing minute of this thing, just from the embarrassment of this jack ass representing us.

Also:

Bush: Nobody cares more about their deaths than I do. (pause)
Reporter: Ok, yadda yadda
Bush: Wait wait! Let me finish. Nobody cares more about their deaths than I do. (pause)

Hooker - 2007-09-26

HATE HIM SO MUCH!

joyofdiscord - 2007-09-26

"I don't like death." In a tone that suggest 1) He thinks that is a really remarkable statement, and 2) He's not entirely telling the truth.

minimalist - 2007-09-27

He only likes death in very specific circumstances. Like the execution of women and retards.

"Ooh, please don't kill me! Henh henh henh!"

Frank Rizzo - 2007-09-26

this clip is so old.

atleast I now know where the bush/busey got its audio from.

Sadam didnt disclose his arms? I guess this whole thing could have been avoided if he was wearing a wife beater.

Rainier - 2007-09-26

Incredible. Thank you for posting this.

theSnake - 2007-09-27

Made it about 1.5 minutes through before wishing mandatory forced and retroactive abortions on anyone who voted for this cumstain.

What do I win?

kingarthur - 2007-09-27

Echoed....also, "that doesn't mean I think I'm a better person than you are"
bwa ha ha ha ha.
Ireland's now on my possible countries to move to list.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2007-09-27

I wish she'd called him on the obvious lie near the end, when she asked him about the deaths in Iraq and he basically insinuated that all the deaths were terrorist related.

I hope his personal relationship with God results in him putting a gun to his head.

Hooper_X - 2007-09-27

THIS INTERVIEW - THE SHORT FORM: George Bush seriously believes his own hype.

zatojones - 2007-09-27

He's a rich boy who has been bailed out of every mess he's ever gotten himself into. It's not surprising he thinks his shit doesn't stink.

baleen - 2007-09-29

Bush is such a twat he can't even make Saddam Hussein sound bad.

Dinkin Flicka - 2008-05-07

If this had a laugh track or was an extended scene out of some kinda dystopian satire on tyrannical dellusion, it'd make perfect, perfect sense.

Goethe and ernie - 2008-10-01

When he says "Irish-Americans", you know he means ginger Bostonians who celebrate "St. Paddy's". Still, fuck Bush harder than Americans who pretend to be Irish.
