There was a second part but the submission thingy fucked up. This is probably about as much GamePro Awards as most people could take, though.

bang to buck ratio - 2007-10-12

I'm not sure I've ever heard someone say "dudette" without irony before.

boner - 2007-10-12

X-Play is the exact same show as this, except they no longer pretend to care about anything.

citrusmirakel - 2007-10-12

This needs a JD Ross tag.

And yes, it's been kicked. Damn, has it been kicked. That was actually worse than I expected.

citrusmirakel - 2007-10-13

Er, Roth, rather. JD Roth.

I went to IMDb and found out his first role was in a TV show called "Oh Boy! Babies!"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1078914/

EvilHomer - 2007-10-12

Hey asshole, you left out "Battletoads is fucking impossible".

5 stars for Super Castlevania IV taking the sound prize, and for his totally bitching lingo. MUCHO PRESTIGIOUS, DUDES AND DUDETTES!

notascientist - 2007-10-12

Protip: No human can beat Battletoads.

notascientist - 2007-10-12

Dang EvilHomer I did not see that you already explained the impossible nature of Battletoads. Sorry everyone.

TinManic - 2007-10-12

i once met a guy who could beat battletoads... and one other who could consistantly get to the last boss. that's all.

Xenocide - 2007-10-13

I like how there was a glitch that actually punished you for playing with another person. If you managed to prove the existence of God by actually making it to one of the later levels, the game refused to let you go any further unless you only had one player. So player two had to kill himself after coming all this way, so player one could progress. Way to beta test, guys.

Udderdude - 2007-10-12

I remember seeing this on TV as a kid. Back then I thought it was cool .. just that there was any kind of show about videogames at all. (Not counting cartoons)

Adramelech - 2007-10-12

Good to see that videogame TV hasn't changed in 16 years.

joyofdiscord - 2007-10-12

"Mucho prestigious awards." That's right, "mucho" and other misused Spanish was all the rage back then.

+5 stars for that twerpy douchebag J.D. Roth. I don't remember him from this show, but rather from some shitty kids' game show.

Caminante Nocturno - 2007-10-12

To defeat the Cyberdemon, shoot at it until it dies.

Pie Boy - 2008-03-11

but what if he fires the rocket missiles

Brautwurst_Barbarian - 2007-10-12

The narrator reminds me of Metal Wolf Chaos for some reason.

kampfy - 2007-10-12

So, I can blame Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective for the outpouring of god awful FMV video games that deluged the market during the mid to late 90's?

Plus, I think Capcom took his advice to keep the MegaMan games coming a little too seriously.

Herr Matthias - 2007-10-12

I still seriously think that every video game magazine in existence was being paid off by Rare over the whole Battletoads thing. Either all the reviewers didn't play past the second level, or just nobody chose to point out that the game had no password/save function and was impossible to complete more than four levels (out of 12) on one playthrough.

Adramelech - 2007-10-12

Funfact: professional game reviewers rarely actively play a title for more than an hour or two (unless it's a personal interest). Rather, they jump around to different parts of the game and develop a general sense of flow and development, which is rounded out by publisher information.

Repomancer - 2007-10-12

He's so -- happy.

Hooker - 2007-10-12

J.D. Roth has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy the past three years in a row.

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2007-10-13

HE'S SO NATURAL

yoyo1 - 2007-10-13

He's like a white Carlton

dead_cat - 2007-10-13

I don't think I could handle the second part of this commercial right now.

Corman's Inferno - 2007-10-13

We love you, Megaman.

Xenocide - 2007-10-13

God, he is ever reading from a prompter.

Reporting from the future, I can assure JD that no one thinks about Sherlock Holmes when we pop in our newfangeled disc-based games.

Testicles of Doom - 2007-10-13

The bowtie makes it work.

Also "This most excellent CART."

FABIO2 - 2007-10-15

It's like a lonely basement dweller pirated the local network signal to bring his love of games and conversations with dolls to the viewing public.

jmags - 2007-12-05

"A stone cold hit!"

also

"Realism and action."

Pie Boy - 2008-03-11

The host looks like the unloved child of Adam Sessler and Pee Wee Herman.
