It's his delivery which sells it, of course.

Me loves the black comedy. I also enjoyed Richard Dawkin's anecdote re: Hitchcock:

Hitchcock is driving along one day and spots a young boy talking to a priest. Hitchcock stops the car, rolls his window down and yells to the boy, "Run, little boy! RUN! Fast as you can!"
And then drives away.

It goes something like that anyway.
