The guy at the mic is Jose Zapatero, the current president of Spain. Mr. needs-to-shut-up is Hugo Chavez, the socialist/populist demagogue president-cum-dictator of Venezuela. He just got done calling the Spanish president's predecessor a sub-human fascist. Mr. why-don't-you-shut-up is Juan Carlos I, the current King of Spain. He just said publicly what everyone pretty much everywhere has been thinking for the last few years.

"President-cum-dictator" Chavez never helped start a colonial war that 98% of his population opposed and that has killed over a half-million people so far. Aznar did. He never lost an election and seized power anyway. Bush did. King Juan Carlos never won three straight elections with independent international monitors certifying each and every race. "President-cum-dictator" Chavez? ... You should get the idea by now.

The fact that Aznar got voted out of office and Bush's term will be up in a year whether he likes it or not while Chavez continues to consolidate his power over every aspect of the Venezuelan government until he's in a position to make himself some sort of "President for Life" is more than a match for whatever apologist nonsense Menudo con Queso can come up with for that adorable little authoritarian down there in Caracas.

menudo con queso is applying the very Latin American concept of autoridad moral to ignore what the groups he supports are doing. Don't get me wrong, just about everyone does it, but it is sooooo tiring to read in the papers from South America where some politico goes dismissing criticisms from the US or Europe by saying that they are a bunch of assholes too, even worse.

Aznar was dense, true. Bush is a complete idiot, very true. Chavez, well, we'll have to wait and see.

And while our cheesy friend is right that Chavez never lost an election but seized power anyway, let's not forget the two failed golpe de estados that Chavez headed. But he is a damn good little singer.
