Nobody makes mention of the fact that Bishop ruined a perfectly good table with his little knife trick. Bailing that, I think Hudson was put into the film to remind the viewer about how they would REALLY act in a similar situation.

Hudson was whiny, but definitely not worthless. He runs the bypass to open the doors, he pulls the floorplans out of the computer so that they can locate the colonists and he blows away a bunch of aliens when he goes apeshit near the end. Hudson rocks.

Syd Midnight - 2007-12-12 I think after Ripley pointed out that the little crazy girl was tougher than him, he pretty much had to charge the enemy and die heroically just to avoid being remembered as the biggest pussy ever.

In retrospect, I feel a lot more sympathetic for him. He acts like a normal person would act, not an action movie hero. That's why he stands out.. he's realistic. Action/horror movies need more Pvt. Hudsons.
