But even more dramatic (couldn't find one) are trains that have snow blowers in front. They literally carve out trenches as high as themselves by the mountain sides.
My father worked for the railroad (and mostly worked alongside the tracks) and I never understood why the company refused to let me tag along with him during the 'take your kids to work day' for reasons of 'safety'.
One of my son's picture books has a train like this in it. The front is a huge plow done up in yellow and black caution stripes. It's apocalypticly awesome
There's a plow engine parked downtown, where I live; and has got to be the most sinister looking machine EVER. It's got faded white teeth painted up the plow, and "bullet" dents all over the blade!
