I'd like to think that the jeweler gave him an empty box

Misdirection + NLP seems to work in at least one out of the three of these, only because the fish market guy seemed in on it to me.

NLP?

kingarthur - 2008-01-13

Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Fancy Schmancy word for subtle suggestions imbedded in your speech. Best example here is when he says to the people, as he hands them the money, "just take this and everything's fine" or "this will be fine"or something to that effect. It won't work in real life as successfully as it does in the clip, BUT it is surprisingly good for getting a person you're talking to into specific emotional states, provided they don't realize what's happening though it helps if the person is already inclined to lean in that direction. For example, you could make the horny hornier.

Take your college words elsewhere, boy.

Oh, Christ. Not NLP! This is the stuff that everyone's liberal woman manager forces down their throats to make the workplace "happier" and more "positive." Every time I know a middle-aged woman is using NLP, it makes me angry.

If it doesn't make you happy then she's not doing you right.

I am a bit of a skeptic. I dont think this is totally fake but I think there was some heavy editing involved. I checked out his other stuff and it left me with a similar feeling.

he keeps talking about the subway and at the point where he says "and my friends said"... he hands them the paper and says "just take it, take it"... SUGGESTION!

I love this show but yeah... I had a hard time believing that this was real.

Smellvin - 2008-01-14

They probably went to about fifty different places and only showed three. I wouldn't be surprised if the two successes in this video were the only ones.

I want to learn the tricks of hypnosis and suggestion and become the greatest thief to ever live.

"Officers, this man claims I paid for the ring with blank paper? That is completely ridiculous."
