Canadian Tire?

Aelric - 2008-01-04

the k-mart of our northern neighbors. i couldn't tell you why it's got "tire" in the name. maybe they stared as a body shop that sold cheap toys out back?

C. Eloi Marx - 2008-01-04

CT started as a gas station, back when gas stations preformed much of the work of keeping a car running. From there they started selling car parts, which has expanded into selling tools, electronics, pots and pans, ect.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what they stock and why, but as a requirement for citizenship one must know what can and cannot be gotten at a CT store.

Canadian Tire used to be a good place to walk up to the Commodore 64's and make them print rude messages. Also, Consumer's Distributing was a weird place. It was a tiny store with a big warehouse behind it, you ordered stuff and it showed up on a conveyor belt.

Aelric - 2008-01-05

i remember a place like that in california as a kid in the mid 80's i thought it was an old style sears, but i doubt it now.

Hooker - 2008-01-05

Consumer Distributing was the shit, and I was sad to see it go. That's where I got my Super Nintendo.

andru strange - 2008-01-04

the strider kid's so gay!

Camonk - 2008-01-05

Dude was right, though. Strider kicked.

MK_Ultra - 2008-01-04

....and thus the personal style of the entire video game forum was defined forever after.

Five stars for this comment!

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-01-04

This isn't nearly as smarmy and insulting to their competitors as I'm used to from Sega's early commercials.

Cube - 2008-01-04

A piece of unusable trivia: Sega Genesis was called Sega Megadrive in Europe

snothouse - 2008-01-04

Megadrive is the first book of the metric Bible.

themilkshark - 2008-01-04

So... how are the Mario games on that thing?

doc duodenum - 2008-01-04

Mortal Kombat had blood and gore

Menudo con queso - 2008-01-05

There was a time when the C&C Music Factory sound seemed like it would be permanent pinnacle of cool. Thank Zoroaster that time has come to an end.

kingarthur - 2008-01-05

Other things that went with it:
1. Stone washed jeans plus fedora plus white t-shirt plus vest.

2. Obscenely colored suits

3. Flip-up sunglasses.

4. Neon.

Unmerciful Crushing Force - 2008-01-05

I think we can all agree that the guy who backed Spider-Man as opposed to Strider is kicking himself now.

soci-o-path - 2008-01-05

The English ad campaign was much better and not quite as gay as this.

What's with re-branding Mega Drive as "Genesis" in the western territories anyway ?
