On most of the crazy religious clips posted on PoeTV, there's generally one or two semi-valid points buried underneath all the strawmen and unwarranted assumptions. For example, some of the crazy creationist clips bring up the problem of demarcation and the fact that is hasn't been completely resolved by philosophers of science.

What sets this apart is that it's just nonstop crazy. As far as I can determine the argument is that modern atheists want to exterminate christians. We know this because Robespierre, a deist who believed in God, had christians killed during the French Revolution.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2008-01-13

Dammit, I was expecting a video of a Southwest flight attendant working in a snide remark about atheism during the preflight safety briefing.

voodoo_pork - 2008-01-14

"To the back of the plane, you'll see Joseph Stalin and Richard Dawkins fellating each other. There is no cock-smoking on this flight. Remember to place your Bibles in the full uptight position."

RockBolt - 2008-01-13

Yes, only atheists kill people for their beliefs and not religious types blah blah blah. They're not even trying anymore.

KillerGazebo - 2008-01-13

I turned it off after 21 seconds, I and I was pretty happy.

FatFatuousNation - 2008-01-13

You're all misunderstanding the stewardess. She's attempting to use deductive reasoning to demonstrate the nonexistence of God.

After showing pictures of all the horrible things that God has apparently permitted to happen, she writes "If there is no God, then *anything* is permitted."

"If" should be "If and only if," but beyond that it's a solid argument. "There is no God. Q.E.D." is tastefully left to the viewer.

KnowFuture - 2008-01-13

"Why are such a stupid asshole?

Would you really like to know?

Well, pay your fee, remove your clothes, and Yvette will show you how:

You went to school where you were taught to fear and to obey, be cheerful, fit in, or someone might think you're weird!

Life CAN be perfect!

People CAN be trusted!

Someday, *I* wll fall in love; a nice quiet home of my
VERY OWN,
Free from all the pain!

Happy and having fun, ALL THE TIME!

...It never happened, did it?"

Innocent Bystander - 2008-01-13

whatcha quotin' dere, chief?

KnowFuture - 2008-01-13

First track off of the Dead Kennedys' album "Plastic Surgery Disasters", featuring a fakey, stewardessy chick spouting the preceding lines in damn near the same voice as the chick doing this clip...

Innocent Bystander - 2008-01-13

I'm a fairly agnostic guy but fuck, is this ever infuriating.

Cube - 2008-01-13

Well, why would anyone take responsibility when you can account everything on a god!

Stog - 2008-01-13

I laughed so hard at this video. I imagined myself laughing in this bitch's face.

EvilHomer - 2008-01-13

I imagined myself laughing as the cold steel lips of Madame Guillotine rushed to kiss this bitch's neck. I'd be cool with a reign of terror against this chick; gentlemen, shall we get started?

notascientist - 2008-01-13

And you guys can provide the 3dge for the guillotines.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-01-14

Hey-- you know, it's sad but true when I say that I'd rather have a crazy theist running things than some godless liberal atheist. At least I can count on the god-freak having a basis I can relate to or study.

And what's with all the anti-Christian rhetoric? It's not like America didn't need Christian influences to give you what you've got today, so quit bitching, you hippies. Just because Christians won't let you have rampant gay sex doesn't mean they're evil.

takewithfood - 2008-01-14

I don't see what's sad about being better able to relate to someone who shares some of your core beliefs, rather than someone who doesn't. That seems like a pretty natural way to feel. As an agnostic I often feel as uncomfortable around hardcore atheists as I do around religious fanatics (and ferrets; those things are wily and unpredictable).

kingarthur - 2008-01-13

Not that, at this point in my life, I'm ALL FOR a reign of terror on any and all organized religions, BUT, eventually these people will breed themselves into an underclass and be forced to adapt.

Also, the slope in her argument is pretty damn slippery. She fucking accelerated downhill towards the end there.

Walt Henderson - 2008-01-20

5 stars for kingarthur being the only person in the history of the internet to correctly apply the Fallacy of the Slippery Slope.

Doctor Arcane - 2008-01-13

If morality is God's determination, then morality is merely God's will and therefore speaking of God as good has no meaning. If God is not inherently good, why should we worship him? Come on people, this is philosophy 101 shit.

andru strange - 2008-01-13

sam likes books and likes to think. he uses words like rational and real... whatta douche!

VoilaIntruder - 2008-01-13

That's dangerous thinking there, Sam. Next he'll want us to use words too.

dead_cat - 2008-01-13

It never fails to disturb the fuck out of me how often crazy types like this will insist on explaining that they are only good because of the giant in the sky who is watching them and writing down all their naughtiness.

andru strange - 2008-01-13

i know... saying that if theres no god, why do good is kinda like asking if there are no cops around, why not rape someone?

Ahriman the Creepy Lurker - 2008-01-14

It's god as the great security camera in the sky--it doesn't matter if you got away with being bad on earth, because god will punish you for it later.

Which reminds me, a couple weeks ago I went on a date with a woman who told me that she would've committed suicide years ago if she didn't believe god would punish her for doing it. I didn't ask her out again.

phlpgrcd - 2008-01-13

Everyone needs to die.

takewithfood - 2008-01-16

I'm working on it, but building a doomsday device is a lot harder than you might think.

ashtar. - 2008-02-01

They will.

oogaBooga - 2008-07-01

I think phl meant "all at once".

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-01-13

I'm legitimately shocked that they bothered to villainize Robespierre beyond telling their target audience that he was French.

Xenocide - 2008-01-14

"He WRITES BOOKS. He likes to THINK."

The two traits fundies hate most in a person. Well, that and gayness.

citrusmirakel - 2008-01-14

Man, okay - that was really frustrating. Because when it got to the point, it was about human atrocities committed by Christians, which rather validated Dawkins' whole claim about "no good and no evil" anyway. I don't think there was your point, so here, let me rewrite this for you.

Okay, so this is Richard Dawkins, and he thinks he's very smart. Richard Dawkins called those who talked to God schitzophrenics, and had implied that those who are deists are mentally unsound. Now, this is Karl Marx. He called religion "The opiate of the masses", when he was writing a book. This is Josef Stalin, he read Karl Marx's book, and then summarily murdered scores of his own people and sent politcal dissidents to work in Gulags. Also, Chairman Mao was a bit of a douchebag, too. Then you show that one photo of the Chinese guy with a gun to his head, and slap your logo up there, preferrably after the photo has left the screen, as you probably don't want the association.

There you go. Fin, you've got you're propaganda. You're welcome, and now for your part, please stop voting.

Roachbud - 2008-01-14

Don't you know God is Pooh Bear?

garcet71283 - 2008-01-14

First of all.....beard

Second, if you do the math...atheism has killed more people than religion if you factor in the regimes of the 20th century.

But never let statistics get in the way of a good arguement, eh?

Please note: I am religious and have a Masters in Policy Studies (statistics of policy)

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-01-14

So your constant unemployment means your counterpoint is effective?

andru strange - 2008-01-14

your statement is complete bullshit, garcet.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-01-15

You're a bouncer, aren't you?

Ouroboros - 2008-12-02

That's nothing. Even taking the twentieth century into account, men have been responsible for murderous atrocities in such greater numbers than women that it makes the atheist/theist ratio look like nothing.

But that's nothing when you discover the statistic that a full ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of murderous atrocities have been committed by human beings. One hundred percent! Even the wolverine, nature's nazi, has not committed even a SINGLE genocide. It's ALL been humans!

And if you think that's shocking, there's MORE. In terms of pure numbers, taking into account the 20th century and all previous centuries, the vast, overwhelming majority of people have been killed not by murderous atrocities, but by disease, famine, drought, weather, and aging.

Now admittedly I haven't done all the research into this issue, but I have it on good authority that weather and time are products of and under the direct control of this "God" fellow (who wasn't even ELECTED!) God has killed more people than atheism, humans, and wolverines COMBINED!

But never let statistics get in the way of a good argument, eh?

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-01-15

Everyone who mentions reason is a murderer...of course this would have to include everyone running our country right now, Miz Narrator.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-01-15

Oh yeah, and the entire thing seems like some sarcastic defense of everything Sam and Richard are saying, so way to go honey, you just proved their points.

yoyo1 - 2008-01-16

As soon as the music started, logic went to hell.

Godwin's LAAAAAAAAAWWWWW

William Batty - 2008-11-18

The participants in the Great Terror didn't actually work for Robespierre. He was just on the Committee for Public Safety. I would expect the fundamentalist Christians to have a better grasp of history.

Ouroboros - 2008-12-02

I would expect the fundamentalist Christians to object to being talked to like they're three years old but what do I know?

Wombles - 2009-05-07

Doesn't know what "Indifference" means.

kingofthenothing - 2009-10-30

I like how God stopped the Holocaust and a multitude of other genocides from happening, because you know, HE TOTALLY EXISTS AND WOULDN'T PERMIT THAT TO HAPPEN.

This video just makes atheism more appealing.
