"...stand our ground and take our licks,
rather than cave and then whine about it afterwards, which makes us look not only weak but petty."

Cinnamon Imperialist - 2008-02-05

You know, Smellvin, I hate videos of politicians just talking about stuff but I'm 5-starring this just to spite you.

ZawBanjito - 2008-02-05

Wow. Political statements that tell the intended audience what it wants to hear. I'm stunned!

3 stars for the probably vain hope that in 2, 3 years these statements will seem either quaintly amusing or ironically horrifying, thus justifying my cynical ennui.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-05

I like how he always talks about "throwing off the shackles of a two-party system," and then votes completely in line with one of the parties. It's as if by saying he's something different, we're supposed to ignore the fact that he's the reason the label "liberal" exists. WOW, HOW NEW AND EXCITING.

http://nj.nationaljournal.com/voteratings/

Evilhead - 2008-02-06

My interpretation of his position about "throwing off the shackles of a two-party system" is completely doing away with the current political climate in Washington that is ruled by lobbyists, corporate and personal gain, all for the benefit of a few privileged elite. He stands to unite the American people and get them involved in government to benefit the MAJORITY of Americans, especially those who have been hit hard economically due to the greed and incompetence of current and previous administrations. If this is labeled as liberalism, that makes me that much more secure in my liberal ideals. This is why I stand by this man and why he will get my vote. I do not doubt his sincerity, although he will have an uphill battle to face. I feel it is a battle worth fighting, however, to save this country and the world on the brink of an economic crisis.

ZawBanjito - 2008-02-06

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'd vote for anything with a pulse over the walking dead that is the Republican Party. I'm allowed to be cynical because I've made up my mind. P.S. I hate you, Billy Buttsex.

EvilHomer - 2008-02-06

Evilhead- the question being begged here is WHAT benefits the majority of Americans; everyone likes, or claims to like, what's best for the country, the problems lie in what you think is best. Essentially, all you're saying is Obama wants to do away with everything right-of-center (or even right-of-him), which is hardly anything new, let alone "throwing off the shackles". If a diehard conservative wanted to "get rid of the two-party system" by "uniting the American people and get them involved in government to benefit the MAJORITY of Americans, especially those who have been hit hard economically due to the greed and incompetence of previous administrations", what would you say to that? Hell no? But you've got the wrong idea about what we need? Business as usual?

Also, while it's nice to say that you want to get rid of lobbyists, corporate and personal gain, how would making this a campaign talking point be anything new? Gee, y'don't say, Mr Obama. Please, tell us more, hows about something about how "you'll work for justice" and "lead America into a bright new future"? Move orward, not backward! Upward not forward! And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I hate Obama, and between him and Hillary he'd get my vote. Who knows? He might even be the BEST candidate we've got, out of any party, assuming that Gene Amondson doesn't win. But I don't trust him as far as I can fling demoniousx, and I don't see how this empty rhetoric is anything laudable or new. At best, they're candied tidbits thrown to his adoring constituency, at worst, it's the dawning of a new era of collectivist doublethink. Feel free to pick whichever interpretation fits your bias.

Evilhead - 2008-02-07

Well, I do see the flaws in the statement, and I don't think Obama really wants to do away with the party system, but I'm just saying that the Republican party as it stands today with the neo-cons in charge needs to go. There are some true conservatives I agree with on some issues, but the way things are set up now the government is really pandering to the rich. Liberalism is far from perfect, but we really need to model ourselves after some of the more successful European nations and get some decent health care, work on poverty, and end this money sucking war.

And this is coming from the son of a man who works in the defense industry making 0,000+ a year. He doesn't need the tax break he got, but I know many who do.

The Great Hippo - 2008-02-05

Fuck the issues. I stopped paying attention when Bush got re-elected (yeah, took me that long). There is only one reason I support Obama: Getting him elected will be the best thing for black culture since Martin Luther King.

There are many reasons why they're in the gutter. Sure, one is the self-perpetuating nature of poverty, but another factor is a cyclical victim complex enabled by STUPID liberals. "We can't get ahead because it's a White Man's world!", or "Being intelligent is too white!" BS (followed by guilt-stricken asses pumping out more cash to enable more whining). YES, racism exists--and you're just making it worse by refusing to do anything but whine about it while wallowing in the muck beneath the poverty line. This will finally shut those *particular* mother-fuckers up.

I might sound like an insensitive prick here but that's only because I am sick and tired of that bull shit. If he gets elected, I hereby claim the right to punch the nuts of any man who tells me about it being a 'White Man's World'. And then steal his wallet.

3 stars for Obama. I need more excuses to punch people in the nuts. And steal their wallets.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-05

If I could 5-star this comment, I would. I'm tired of being told that it's my fault that black people don't succeed, and that there needs to be more race-based legislation in order to make things better for them. THAT BEING SAID, keep in mind that even though a black man being the president of the US will mean that black people CAN make it if they want to, he's totally ignoring that fact and still in favor of "ending racial profiling," (which is code for "not letting police do their jobs") and "expanding hate-crime legislation" (which is code for "making it impossible for white people to complain about government instituted race preference).

If you vote for Barack or Hillary and you're white, you've sold out your people.

The Great Hippo - 2008-02-05

Keep in mind that I am liberal who flames so much I could give Oscar Wilde pointers. I even support legislation that addresses the economical and educational plight of minorities--but loading a shotgun with cash and shooting it at the problem is worse than pointless. It creates a subculture that feeds off this money and, consciously or not, keeps the problem going.

Obama as President would just be so fucking therapeutic. I'd vote for Hillary for the exact same reasons, but black people need Obama much more than feminists need Hillary. Plus I'm still pissed about her pussying out over Medicare.

If anyone's interested in learning more about this, they'd do well to study the fucked up relationship between liberals and black militants after the Civil Rights movement in the sixties. It's a perpetual motion machine of stupidity.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-05

Therapeutics don't make a good president. Don't let your white guilt get the best of you.

I'm absolutely convinced that there are two kinds of liberals

1) people with good hearts, and the only problem is that they get impatient and wanna do things the "easy" (aka "wrong") way: through government intervention and manipulation of educational systems instead of placing responsibility on the individual and respecting white/male rights, and it usually causes more problems than they started out with.

2) selfish people who hate being told what they do is wrong, and that they need to promote good personal behavior.

There's hope for you, Mr. Hippo, because I believe you're in camp number one. You're well-read and you look for truth, and that's respectable. I just disagree that having a black president making race-based legislation that tramples on white rights is gonna help at all. I say the change has to come through the black community itself, and when they stop calling education and chastity "white," and start holding their fathers accountable for their children, this'll all clear up nicely. Bill Cosby is the future, not Barack.

And by the way, if you think that last comment about black kids being abandoned by their fathers is mean, here are stats from the CDC: single-mother pregnancies are almost 10% higher than whites, even though blacks are a much smaller population. Also worth noting: children raised without a father are at much higher risk for crime culture, and end up in jail more often. Tough world for black people, but I think it can be fixed.

The Great Hippo - 2008-02-05

By 'therapeutic', I meant therapeutic for other people, not me. Obama is a politician, not a black militant. If he wants to pass stupid legislation for free bleeding heart votes, let him. I don't give a fuck about his policies. We need a black president so people can get over it and move the fuck on.

As for the rest of your schpiel--I'm using 'liberal' imprecisely. We'd disagree on a hell of a lot of things, but I doubt it's the things you think we'd disagree on. I appreciate that you're praying for me though. Make sure to throw in something about a convertible; I could use one of those.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-05

For the one reason that we could tell all the whiners to STFU, I agree that having Barack as the president would be good for the country.

What KIND of convertible?

Whitewater5 - 2008-02-05

YO BILLY: THANK YOU

i was all like "hmm this guy may have a point about not liking obama" and then you started rambling about race traitors and all that

that was a close one

The Great Hippo - 2008-02-05

I thought he was being sarcastic. If he wasn't, well then--fuck him and the discussion he road in on.

Black Napkins - 2008-02-05

Do they still let you guys lick Reagan's sack now that he's dead?

Seriously. Good going buying the propaganda. Way to be.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-05

Race treason is purposely selling out the entire population of your people and putting them at societal disadvantage for your own personal gain. It's not that abhorrent of a concept.

It really happens, and I think certain Democratic leaders are willing to sacrifice white people's rights and freedoms so they can get more votes, and it's wrong. I don't believe in purposely putting ANY races at a disadvantage through government institution. The government should treat whites and blacks the same, and when people vote for otherwise, they're abandoning their race and the cause of liberty.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-05

And by the way, you guys, even if you do really honestly believe that the concept of race treason is absolutely nuts, that doesn't mean the rest of my argument is. You can't just disregard everything a person says just because you find one thing offensive. I mean, that's a little absurd, and plus I wholeheartedly respect many of the things you guys say regardless of whether or not we see eye-to-eye. Come on, Hippo. You're smarter than that.

Whitewater5 - 2008-02-05

>>You can't just disregard everything a person says just because you find one thing offensive

amazingly enough we sure can

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-05

Well then I guess you can!

minimalist - 2008-02-05

The white man just can't get a fucking break in this country.

Hooker - 2008-02-05

Is it just me, or does Cracker Buttsex's verbal fellatio and subsequent guilting have the unmistakeable undertone of molestation to it?

nocash - 2008-02-06

Pimply white trash fighting about why black people are inferior.

Welcome to poe-tv

Samisyosam - 2008-02-05

I like Obama because he's a great orator, has a strong opinion against lobbyists and has one hell of a death stare when he's angry.

FISTFULLofSOUL - 2008-02-05

there's an election going on?

Rudy - 2008-02-05

Barak Obama is the only candidate that will give the lazy, shiftless negroes the government hand-outs that they don't deserve.

I'm PoE, and I approved this message.

theSnake - 2008-02-05

Our only hope against the disgusting Republican Party and the vileness that is Hillary. GO BARACK GO!!!!

StanleyPain - 2008-02-05

Wow...this clip sure brought out the gay.

kingarthur - 2008-02-05

Living where I do, my first question in this election is: who can help me save me from nutball religiosos and the incompetent policies that have not only resulted in several thousand people dying needlessly, but also in an attempted regression into the Colonial era or worse, coupled with a domestic policy of ignorance and conservative bootstrap bullshit in the midst of, say, entire cities being fucked up? So, yeah, my vote goes to Barack Obama.

robotkarateman - 2008-02-06

I'm 5-starring this because, in three years, there'll be a national-tragedy type video on PoETV and this will show up in the "People Who Liked This Video Also Liked" section and the faggotry that is this thread will be revealed to new generations of PoE users.

Whitewater5 - 2008-02-06

I wish we had a President in 2002 who knew what the fuck a "Sunni" was.
