Suddenly, Republicans not wanting to press 1 to get English when they call the phone company is the most important issue ever.

In a way, I'm very glad they will never get elected again. Ever.
It brings me enormous joy.

Hooker - 2008-02-10

They'll get elected.

I wonder if it's possible to find a single American citizen of Mexican descent anywhere that supports this retarded focus on illegal immigration.

baleen - 2008-02-10

One thing Bush did right for his party was to build a bridge to the Latino community. All the candidates have successfully destroyed that bridge in the past 4 years. Mexicans and Latinos are essential to winning almost any important election in this country at this point.

If Republicans think they can win any presidency on a platform that rests on white anger, the way they used to, they are delusional.

IrishWhiskey - 2008-02-10

Never underestimate the power of white anger.

They are fighting to preserve their culture against polluting foreign influences. Like Lou Dobbs says, its 'us versus the International House of Pancakes/Al-Qaeda'

baleen - 2008-02-10

I'm not underestimating them. One of the big reasons Huckabee took Kansas by over 60% is because he is reneging on the moderately pro-immigrant position he had while governor of Arkansas and embracing the ridiculous border fence platform. McCain will have a much harder time putting up his anti-immigrant dukes, which is what the majority of Republicans really want to see right now. One good thing about McCain's character is that he is genuinely disgusted by the anti-Mexican fervor that currently has his party in a headlock.

However, the numbers in the last elections don't lie. Florida and the Southwest will blow blue this year with the massive amounts of Latinos who voted Republican in the last elections either not voting at all or going Democrat to prove a point that they are extremely pissed off at the language the GOP has decided to use to mobilize their asshole base.

Ersatz - 2008-02-10

As a conservative Republican, I have a great deal of trouble understanding the sudden need for the War on Well-trimmed Lawns and Operation Deport the Dishwashers.

I understand the negatives of illegal immigration, in that it's depressing the wages of the lowest native classes, but the anti-immigration lobby hardly mentions that. The campaigns are almost exclusively pandering to middle-class racists that are convinced they've lost valuable time enunciating "Quarter-Pounder Value Meal."

There's also the cognitive dissonance in insisting the girl vacuuming the office at night came to America to get welfare checks, but let's leave that for another discussion.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-11

Ugh.

I swear, if you guys didn't have me here to say these things, nobody would.

Republicans are crazy about stopping illegal immigration because this country was founded on a culture different than what the Mexicans have, and they know that sometime within this century, Latinos are poised to become the majority in the American population. Right-wingers don't want this to become the United States of Mexico. It's not rocket science.

Plus, they're worried because Latinos currently commit more crimes than white people do, and they bring a lot of gang-related problems across the border. Clearly you guys aren't from any border states.

Here are the stats from the Department of Justice about Latino crime. By the way, I'm half Latino and I support the fight against ILLEGAL, UNCONTROLLABLE immigration, not immigration in general. What's wrong with enforcing our laws and asking foreigners to respect them if they want to live here? You don't see us telling Mexico to respect Honduran civil rights when the Hondurans jump the fences illegally, and they oughta shut up about us wanting to enforce our laws.

baleen - 2008-02-11

No.

I don't think anybody is saying stop controlling immigration forever.
Your argument is so weak and old that I don't really feel a need to address it with many words, so I will just use address it with search tags:

social security
shadow economy
cost of deportation
culture
free market
competition
aging population
education
racism
cultural imperialism
mutual economic benefits
population crunch

And jesus, if you are HALF LATINO, do you really like being treated like a parasite in this country's political discourse? Apparently you do, because you keep coming back here. You silly twat.

Also, the next time you go to your little Uncle Juan GOP convention, pay really close attention to who is spitting in your food.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-11

Baleen, I was humble and researched every single one of those topics, HONESTLY, and I want to let you know that it looks like you need to start reading instead of just spouting liberal garbage out of your mouth.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-11

And by the way, whitey's perfectly happy to have me on the right side. I'd rather stand by them any day than by the liberal whiner sellouts like you.

baleen - 2008-02-11

You appear to be the only person whining around here. I look forward to you posting two or three times in a row every time you have another retarded thing to say that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic, which is not controlling immigration, it is "preserving American Heritage." How is that not abundantly obvious to you? How can you be such a fucking jackass? Words really do elude me. Perhaps you have no actual ties to the culture which half-spawned your irritating existence onto my favorite network, and I'm certain, as you said, the right loves having you around to point to as their little Mexican Shelby Steele sans intelligence.

I will now ignore you for the most part and let everyone else who frequents this site take turns fucking you in the ass. You are using pithy catchall terms that rednecks use to motivate one another, so my instincts tell me that you are such a fucking moron that you would not be able to be deprogrammed on a video clip comment board.

P.S. Go back to Mexico wetback.

baleen - 2008-02-11

BUT DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT

DOO DOO DOOT

http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/wattenberg200604180659.a sp

National Review. National. Review.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-11

WOW, THE NATIONAL REVIEW. You MUST be right, Baleen! Because if it's an opinion piece in the National Review, I must have to agree with it!

Hooker - 2008-02-11

Would it be cruel to claim Billy's only half latino because the dog beat his dad over the fence?

Thatcher Pennywhistle - 2008-02-12

Decent troll. Try a more fringe topic next time for extra points.

EvilHomer - 2008-02-12

Alright, I hate to do this to you fine people, but I'm going to have to play the Wetback Advocate and come to Mr Buttsex's aid. Again.

First what I don't agree with- the whole "Latinos commit more crimes" thing. Well, OK, so I do agree with that, BUT! But, but, but, it's misleading and counterproductive. There's definitely a racist undertone there, and it isn't justified. The real problem isn't the fact that, I dunno, Mexicans are animals or the Latino mudman is uncivilized and genetically predisposed o a life of robbing stagecoaches and drinking tequila. It's a matter of social class and economic disadvantage- Latinos commit more crimes because they're more likely to be poor and destitute, not because they're Latino. Take a group of whites in the same situation- underpaid, overworked, marginalized by society, and you'll get the same rates of blue collar and violent crimes as you would in a similar group of Mexicans. So yes, while Mexicans do commit more crimes, and the data is there, it's a pointless fact.

But here's the thing I don't get: illegal immigration. It seems to me, both here and in my day to day life hawking textbooks and coffee to ultra-leftist Liberal Arts students, that whenever people get wrapped up in the "leftist" approach to the "issue" of illegal immigration, they seem to forget that the key word here is ILLEGAL.

Yes, the right happily provides a lot of sombrero-wearing strawmen for self-respecting leftists to take shots at. But in spite of the racism and the carnival atmosphere of NASCAR, Budweiser, and shotguns, hunkered down on a lawn chair, watching the border through binoculars, the plain fact of the matter is that the rednecks have a perfectly valid point, and illegal immigration HAS to be dealt with. We have immigration laws. People try and break them. And when they do, the laws have to be enforced, or at least reworked to reach a healthy compromise. What's so bad about that?

Now granted, the Ron Paul loving Libertarian in me recognizes the unique benefits of an undocumented labor force. They work harder, they ask for less, they aren't bound by the same brutally humane labor laws as everyone else, and without paying taxes or serving draft notices, they bravely refuse to feed the Beast. They're the ultimate Fuck You to Big Socialism- a phantom people, living on the edge, beyond the coddling grasp of the state. Y'know, so, yay illegal immigrants!

But the sensible person in me recognizes that Ron Paul failed miserably for a reason. Exploiting workers (real exploiting, not Marxist exploiting) isn't cool, and it's a rather good idea for people living here in this great nation of ours to pay taxes, serve jury duty, or at the very least, get put on the books so the Feds can keep an eye on them. And since the whole "illegal Mexicans are cheap labor and they don't mooch off government programs" thing is, as far as I can tell, the ONLY "pro" to illegal immigration, that kind of puts a damper on the whole plan.

So here's my question, and I'm honestly curious to hear people's opinions here (since the average PoEtard is quite a bit more sensible than the loonbats in my area): what is "good" about illegal immigration? Why should we not care about enforcing our border laws? Or, perhaps with a bit less spin, what's wrong with people wanting these laws enforced, and trying to see that they are?

Hooker - 2008-02-12

I think the illegal immigration issue is shallow and politicized. I've never seen any evidence that illegal immigration is a vastly worse problem now than it was five years ago (or pre-9/11), and I've never seen any real evidence that it's causing any serious economic or social problem (citing ECON 101 theories and vague anecdotal stories doesn't cut it). The only difference between illegal immigration now and five or ten years ago is the amount of attention it's getting.

I'm not for welcoming illegal immigration with open arms or anything, but wasting resources and, frankly, attention on it just seems stupid. I don't support shoplifting, but I also don't support throwing billions of dollars at a problem that costs millions. You're not going to stamp out every crime; find the reasonable level. Illegal immigrants aren't malicious - they're literally coming here because it's the best option for themselves and their families. Why is it such a critical issue, when there are vastly more important things on the table, such as studying climate change, AIDS relief, unemployment, a looming recession, and so forth?

EvilHomer - 2008-02-12

Maybe it is politicized, and maybe it isn't as critical as some other issues (although there are certainly far less important issues on the table now, too- medical marijuana, I'm looking at you!- and what issue these days ISN'T politicized?) But that doesn't address the very real fact that we have immigration laws and they need to be enforced, one way or the other. Handing out speeding tickets at the junction of Grove and Main might not be an "important issue" in the grand scheme of things, but does that mean we can just forget about the 45mph speed limit the Town Transit Commission put there? "Yes, yes, Mrs Appleberger. We've all heard about those teenaged hoodlums drag racing by your house at speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour. But don't you know there are CHILDREN DYING IN AFRICA, Mrs Appleberger?! You dumb redneck."

Again, what's wrong with people wanting these laws enforced, and trying to see that they are? Is it just distaste for anything the right likes to make a talking point of?

Hooker - 2008-02-12

Immigration laws have been enforced. Just not very strictly. Just like jaywalking laws have been enforced.

My point is that I don't see why they need to be enforced more strictly. I don't care about abstract issues of respecting the laws or whatever. On a purely pragmatic level, does spending the government's money at a higher rate on the issue of illegal immigration result in a better return on that investment? Is it the best possible investment? I don't think it is, and I'm basing that on the fact that illegal immigration hasn't changed.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-13

Evilhomer, thanks again. It's nice to see that not everyone on this thing is a brainwashed pc lesbian. By the way, here are some stats on illegal immigrants and crime from the GAO (via FBI info), and here's the rest on the cost of having families here illegally and the strain it puts on our services (the effects on the medical system are gargantuan).

Anyone who supports illegal immigration is responsible for the 11,839 sex offenses committed against our women and children in 2005 alone. Shame on all of you in favor of it, and double shame for suggesting that this is only about racism.

Hooker - 2008-02-13

Oh, Billy. You're such a racist faggot, and I had sex with your mom.

LetsFistAgain - 2008-02-19

All i know is, you cant nurture enormous class divisions and poverty for a hundred years and then get outraged when people look for a better life. I recently spoke to a Guatemalan girl who said "Fuck the minutemen! America was here first!"
Latinos have been told to make their countrys better for as long as i can remember and when they tried America was there to cut them off. Can you blame people for takign the only chance they got left?

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-02-10

I don't think they know what indigenous means. Now that I think about it, they probably don't know what sovereignty means, either.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2008-02-10

Well if there's a silver lining in all of this is that most of the people shown in that video will soon by worm food.

Thatcher Pennywhistle - 2008-02-10

Take your coconut with you.

nubilus - 2008-02-10

mr mexican man sir, you have my respect

Cinnamon Imperialist - 2008-02-11

me neither

hellomisterkaiser - 2008-02-11

see, white people are more successful because we subcontract out our lesser jobs like the "DON'T BOTHER WITH THEM MAN IT'S NOT WORTH IT" position to our grandmothers.

Xenocide - 2008-02-11

These people must be pissed about the fact that none of the probable remaining presidential candidates support their hatemongering.

If McCain wins, I won't be happy, but the silver lining is that it will have sent the message to the racist wing of the GOP that they're no longer relevant.

If he loses, it could still do that, but it's just as likely the next election cycle will feature lots of pandering to these idiots in the belief that they are now crucial to victory.

Either way, the right has pissed away the latino vote thanks to sucking up to morons like these, and that's going to hurt them more and more in the years to come. Hope it was worth it, guys.

Oh, and also, camera guy is fucking awesome.

baleen - 2008-02-11

The fucked up thing is that the "racist" wing of the GOP is currently the loudest. None of the Republicans who have an ounce of brains are happy about this at all. . . . Guys like McCain.

I would not be surprised if he drummed up some border fence talk after Kansas.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-11

Getting latino votes = giving them more power to sue white people and not doing anything about illegal immigration. It's insulting to Latinos, and it's selling out to Americans.

Shame on the Democrats, shame on Latinos who vote Democrat, and shame on McCain.

Sean Robinson - 2008-02-11

But you admit that it is really the Mexicans' land and that white people are invaders who should be expelled, right?

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-11

Oh, totally! And I firmly believe that the Africans should go back to Africa, and I think that the white Mexicans should go back to Spain, and I think that white people in general should go back to England, and animals should rule the planet again.

Because everyone belongs in their original land! Because the original owners are totally entitled to their property rights, because the first person to put a flag somewhere owns it! YAY!!!!

Are you being serious, or what? America belongs in California and Mexico doesn't.

Sean Robinson - 2008-02-11

But shouldn't they try to take it over? What is immoral with Mexicans attempts to conquer? If they succeed then it is theirs, right?

Billy Buttsex - 2008-02-11

Well then shouldn't we be allowed to try and stop them?

Sean Robinson - 2008-02-11

Sure, pedejo, you can try.

andru strange - 2008-02-12

no need to try. mexico is currently mexico and all states still belong to the union.

HarveyTibbar - 2009-03-12

A vast majority of Mexicans are Meztico. That being, the natives of Central and South America.

Spaniards are pasty white.

Dinkin Flicka - 2008-05-13

You already posted this above, you stupid mother fucker.

oogaBooga - 2008-08-29

The issue isnt supporting the enforcement of immigration law - thats fine and dandy, something I support, the issue is the absolutely polarized and idiotic way these people reacted.

Unless theres some missing part of the video where the mexican in question provokes them, their reaction was disgraceful and reprehensible.

ZawBanjito - 2008-02-14

Why did this idiot wade into this? Congratulations, you've proved what everyone already knew.

bac - 2008-05-08

I would like to shake that persons hand...also...coward. hahahahaha.

rev.dinosaur - 2008-10-06

That "ignore him" at the end is unreal. Or maybe it's her face. Yes, it's the face.

Wombles - 2009-05-05

"Indi...indigi...indigiwhat?!"
GO BACK TO MEXICO

Wombles - 2009-05-05

Ah should have known there would be some discussion.

The upside to illegal immigration is the profitability and or existence of a great deal of restaurants, hotels, construction, and most of all any agriculture that requires much manual labor.

In short, there's a reason why the strongest support for lax immigration is from businesses.

The Mothership - 2013-02-10

truly enraging.

DriverStabby - 2013-04-18

At about 2:07, is that a Mexican woman speaking Spanish, supporting the rally?
