Gamara II - 2008-02-25
Why is it that, roughly speaking, about 90% of kittens and puppies are cute, yet it's an anomaly bordering on miraculous when our own offspring are actually this cute? I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels like this. Cuteness is obviously in the eye of the beholder, so how did we get to be so bass-ackwards in our perception?

Syd Midnight - 2008-02-25 A big part for me is novelty. Everything is so new to a kid, and they don't understand the subtleties. One of the cutest things I ever saw my year old niece do was discover and experiment with refrigerator magnets. All "Look! How did that happen?" "Baby tasting first lemon" would be almost as cute if it was an adult who had never tasted "sour" before.
From a little kids POV, Star Wars may as well be a historical documentary. With a 3 year olds grasp of science, it's all plausible.

|
Gamara II - 2008-02-25 Nocode, I think this kid is definitely cute, but she's an exception to the norm. Hence the 4 stars.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-02-25
They're not going to have her recap episodes 1-3 because, really, a kid that old shouldn't be swearing.

She's going to grow up to be a chain-smoking flapper from the 1920's.

It really was an exciting movie.

But don't talk back to Darth Vader, he'll getchya.

Funnily enough Lucas used the name 'Shiny Guy' and the term 'Light up Sword' in the first few drafts of the script
|
TeenerTot - 2008-02-25
It's so easy to imagine her in twenty years chatting up a friend over coffee in a Long Island accent.
"The shiny guy always worries."
|
PocketMirror - 2008-02-25
Aww now I'm gonna think of the Death Star as a giant pokeball FOREVER. Darth earned his Alderaan gym badge, that's for sure.
|
jmags - 2008-02-25 If you watch it again, you'll see that she's referring to something else when she says pokey-ball.
|
|
Stopheles - 2008-02-25
The shiny guy DOES always worry, come to think of it.

It's amusing to consider that we ALREADY know what she'll look and sound like as a senior citizen.

Billy the Poet - 2008-02-25
Gotta be coached. No non-animated creature is this cute and full of malapropism in the real world. Still adowable.
|
Stopheles - 2008-02-26 I talked about Star Wars pretty obsessively when I was about the same age. It was the first movie I watched all the way through...
|
Cube - 2008-02-26 That's what I thought. Can't say that I've ever talked with a three-year-old American, but many of her phrases just seem out of place. It could of course be, that her parents talk that way and she's just imitating them.
|
|
Camonk - 2009-10-03 Sigh.
Children don't imitate their parents very much (of course they DO, but by this age, imitation is a pretty small part of their repertoire). Also, by three they've mastered a lot of their language. Some will be more advanced, too.

How can something get better every time you watch it?

You just know there are some nerds watching this, shouting "oh my god, that is SO inaccurate" at their monitors.

We seriously need a sister site called PortalofCute. I'd watch the fuck out of it every day.

Also, 5 stars for chronological accuracy.
