Oh, to live in a time when Democrats had the balls to stand up to Republicans.

Everything from the 1968 protest of the Democrat's convention by students (which may have been a big factor in Hubert's loss) to the eventual withdrawal from Vietnam in the face of failing vietnamization by Nixon leads me to believe that that everything went fucking insane for about a decade around this time with the end results of some of the best American lit.
