my father took me to dinner with harlan ellison and a bunch of their friends once when i was 13. the waitress brought me a sprite instead of a coke, and harlan really railed on her all night after that, saying things like 'we're gonna pull a train on you honey, you know what that means?'
we apologized for his behavior. and harlan was the only one who got food poisoning.
