Kill Bill was a ripoff of 5 Fingers of Death. 5 Fingers of Death was a ripoff of Ironside.

This is hawt, though.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-04-12

Ironside was a ripoff of Perry Mason.

Kill Bill, and everything Quentin Tarantino has ever done, is a ripoff of Seijun Suzuki. Pretty much Tarantino is an aspie who's skill is in perfectly translating Japanese cinema from the 60s for an American market. If you don't believe me watch Suzuki's assassin movies for yourselves. That's not to say he isn't good at what he does, but when you go to the source it takes most of the wind out of it.

I dunno. I think that seriously sells Tarantino short. Lots of people use older, obscure filmmaking techniques and fail horribly. Tarantino doesn't. So I think it goes beyond just ripping people off.

StanleyPain - 2008-04-12

I used to think that about Taratino until I realized how many American filmmakers do basically the same shit only pretend they're not. Tarantino at least admits as such. I don't think he's a genius or anything, but he at least knows his shit about the whole 60s/70s Japanese/Grindhouse/42nd street/Z-grade scene/whatever stuff he's ripping off this week.

Bitching about Tarantino stealing is like bitching about Daft Punk sampling.

baleen - 2008-04-12

I know, but the original shit is just so much better.

Westward - 2008-04-13

Tarantino is like a great guitarist that can only play covers.

That said, Ironside is fuckin' awesome.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-04-12

Raymond Burr always gets five stars. No jury in the world would disagree.

RomancingTrain - 2008-04-12

So that show is real.

StanleyPain - 2008-04-12

Binro the Heretic - 2008-04-12

It was really awesome in the seventies & eighties, but I don't know how well it's held up. I haven't seen it since I was about nine or ten.

I remember he was a former police detective paralyzed from the waist down by a failed assassination attempt. He continued his crime-fighting career as a private detective and rode around in a specially-modified van.

He had a lady who worked with him and a black guy with a big ol' seventies 'fro.
