The pCm's have been around that long, huh?

Jeff Fries - 2008-05-04

I didn't know this existed. Wasn't it considered in poor taste to begin every episode with the daughter getting raped?

Xenocide - 2008-05-04

Pre-feminist America was quite a different place. Violent rape was actually considered hilarious until 1981.

Xenocide - 2008-05-04

One man. Outnumbered by strawmen, with a laugh track that kicks in without being triggered by jokes, or much of anything. How long until he snaps?

The show was basically All in the Family, but with the roles reversed: the conservative dad was usually the more reasonable one while the wife and kids took their liberalism a bit too far. "HOLY SHIT YOU DIDN'T BUY A MAGAZINE YOU RACIST" is a pretty typical plotline.

B. Weed - 2008-05-04

The dad was also a fairly reasonable conservative, in contrast to his neighbor who was a paranoid John Birch Society type.

sliggy - 2008-05-05

They were mad that he didn't buy a magazine subscription, but totally didn't notice that he called a grown man "son".

RandomFerret - 2008-05-04

Were all of Hanna-Barbera's cartoons knockoffs of popular television shows. We got knockoffs of The Honeymooners, All in the Family, Superman... And every Scooby-Doo episode after the pilot was just a copy of the first episode with the backdrop plates swapped out.

Spit Spingola - 2008-05-05

Some of the first cartoons they did for TV, Quick Draw McGraw and Yogi, weren't too bad. Hanna and Barbera just loved formula to a ridiculous degree, that's why they only did Tom & Jerry cartoons before they moved to TV and ruined cartoons forever.

Spit are you John Kricfalusi

Velma has really let herself go.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-05-04

A rare glimpse into the Faliszek family home during Chet's younger, less responsible years. Way to guilt-trip your dad, Chet!

Desidiosus - 2008-05-04

:D

Written back when peole could conceive of possibly retiring.

Also, "ghetto area".

Spit Spingola - 2008-05-05

This show was pretty boring but it's an interesting oddity. I always figured the Family Guy creator was thinking of these characters when he created that show.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-05-05

I think it stands out from other Hanna Barbera clones. At the very least it's interesting to compare something like this with TV today.

Harveyjames - 2008-05-05

That looked pretty good! It seems like it deals with these themes in a pretty sophisticated way. Sitcoms weren't doing that in the 70's, right?

BHWW - 2008-05-05

Whatever, honky!

(laughtrack goes "crazy" for about twenty seconds)

Maggot Brain - 2008-05-05

Someone find the one where his daughter wouldn't wear a bra with her see though dress. Gross

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-04-23

You know, I don't think we need to see that.

chumbucket - 2008-05-05

Tom Bosley?

Calamity Jon - 2008-08-20

I'm of the opinion that this is the show from which Seth MacFarlane swiped his character designs and relationships for Family Guy, rather than the Simpsons. Note also the mom's voice...

And for that matter, I think the design for Moe is influenced by the next-door neighbor.
