One man. Outnumbered by strawmen, with a laugh track that kicks in without being triggered by jokes, or much of anything. How long until he snaps?
The show was basically All in the Family, but with the roles reversed: the conservative dad was usually the more reasonable one while the wife and kids took their liberalism a bit too far. "HOLY SHIT YOU DIDN'T BUY A MAGAZINE YOU RACIST" is a pretty typical plotline.

B. Weed - 2008-05-04 The dad was also a fairly reasonable conservative, in contrast to his neighbor who was a paranoid John Birch Society type.

Were all of Hanna-Barbera's cartoons knockoffs of popular television shows. We got knockoffs of The Honeymooners, All in the Family, Superman... And every Scooby-Doo episode after the pilot was just a copy of the first episode with the backdrop plates swapped out.

Spit Spingola - 2008-05-05 Some of the first cartoons they did for TV, Quick Draw McGraw and Yogi, weren't too bad. Hanna and Barbera just loved formula to a ridiculous degree, that's why they only did Tom & Jerry cartoons before they moved to TV and ruined cartoons forever.

This show was pretty boring but it's an interesting oddity. I always figured the Family Guy creator was thinking of these characters when he created that show.

I'm of the opinion that this is the show from which Seth MacFarlane swiped his character designs and relationships for Family Guy, rather than the Simpsons. Note also the mom's voice...
And for that matter, I think the design for Moe is influenced by the next-door neighbor.
