Used to do this with reel-to-reel tapes all the time but never heard if it being done with a cassette. Awesome.

Unmerciful Crushing Force - 2008-05-13
A guy at work I know won a film festival in Detroit by standing in front of a black background, putting on different outfits and putting together some monologue about nothing, then copying the DV tape to a VHS tape, scratching the fuck out of and then just fucking around with it in a VCR. He won 00 for a tape.
It was impressive, but damn, my face was green like a crisp leaf of lettuce.

Old_Zircon - 2013-05-23 I met someone who did every project for her MFA in film in the early 90s using nothing but a broken Videodisc* player with Jane Fonda's Workout stuck in it.
*those are the 70s analog video players that play cartridges that look like 3.5" floppies only about 13"x13", and play the video back from an analog disc inside using a needle like a record player. When they're broken they pretty much turn everything into an EBN video.

Tapes are finally making their big comeback, right guys? Right?

Old_Zircon - 2013-05-23 A few years ago. There are tons of tiny, cassette-only labels again.
|
Old_Zircon - 2013-05-23 I forgot when this was posted. So yeah, right around when that comment was made was when cassette started to really come back.
