meh. i want to believe this will be good but....

It's disappointing that after so many years between movies, they just went with some off-the-cuff storyline rather than continuing what they started in the first film.

takewithfood - 2008-05-23

Chris Carter never had any metaplot, he just made stuff up as he went along. There was no storyline to work from. I'm glad it's a monster-of-the-week movie because it keeps your hopes a little lower. Those were always the best episodes anyway.

When it come down to it the stand alone episodes are by far the most entertaining and interesting to watch more than once, the story arc just drowns in its own contradiction and tacked on plots and characters

asian hick - 2008-05-23

Seriously. The very best episodes of the show were stand-alone. Granted, it's really hard to tell what the actual plot of this is or if it will be good, but I'm excited about more X-Files regardless.

Jefka - 2008-05-24

Shit, the series was great with the standalone episodes. The metaplot devolved into a terrible mess whether it was planned or not.

This just seems like an attempt to squeeze just a bit more money from the franchise.

How old is Scully these days? Don't care I'd do her. Also, whats that in David Duchovny's eyes? Thats the sadness of his failed movie career.

Yes.

Xenocide - 2008-05-24

I will only watch this if it's a "Jose Chung's From Outer Space"-style self parody.

kingarthur - 2008-05-24

Is that Billy Conelly? Because if Billy Conelly shows up it's a sure sign your movie is either one made of epic failure (Boondock Saints) or epic win (The Aristocrats) and never both.

And yeah, I partially posted that because I hate Boondock Saints, can't stand that so many people like it, and still haven't forgiven anyone involved in it. I don't care if you like it, it's still a terrible, terrible movie.

more importantly is that xzibit? yes it is.

all these stars are for xzibit. in the xfiles.

now it all makes sense
