"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion..."

--Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli, read outloud and passed unanimously on the Senate floor on June 7th, 1797--signed and ratified by John 'Mother-Fucking' Adams himself.

Dear Christian Douchebags: Please stop trying to hijack history for your own fucked up political and social agendas.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-06-09

John Adams:
“ The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principals of Christianity… I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”
• “[July 4th] ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.”
–John Adams in a letter written to Abigail on the day the Declaration was approved by Congress

"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." --October 11, 1798

"I have examined all religions, as well as my narrow sphere, my straightened means, and my busy life, would allow; and the result is that the Bible is the best Book in the world. It contains more philosophy than all the libraries I have seen." December 25, 1813 letter to Thomas Jefferson

"Without Religion this World would be Something not fit to be mentioned in polite Company, I mean Hell." [John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, April 19, 1817]

God bless America, and may it always remain a Christian nation.

glasseye - 2008-06-09

Five stars for the pure evil that mccain represents.

Fortunately America is becoming less Christian every year. More and more people are beginning to use their brains, and realize that religion is total bullshit.

Slinging around quotes from the founding fathers wont do you any good with regard to supporting your ignorant attempts to rewrite history. If you read more than a few choice sentences (I know, this may be difficult for you,) you'll realize that most of the founding fathers were resoundingly deist.

Now, go pick up a dictionary and look up "deist." We'll wait.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-06-09

"WAAAAH WAAAAH! We hate Christians SO MUCH that we won't even look up the founding fathers' actual beliefs. We're so satisfied with the info our high school teachers gave us, that we're willing to call other people names without doing any research, which is fine because we know half of POEtv will back us up because most of us are illiterate liberals."
-POE

By the way, the majority of the founding fathers were Episcopalian, and most members who were more deistic around the time of the declaration of independence, actually turned toward christianity in the years that followed.

TeenerTot - 2008-06-09

I don't care what the fuck religion the founders were. Keep it the hell out of my government NOW, thank you.

glasseye - 2008-06-09

Keep believing whatever revisionist bullshit you want to believe, Billy. The fact remains that Christianity is dying in america. Good riddance to bad rubbish, IMO. Even if it weren't, religion of any form does not belong in our government whatsoever.

Mordant - 2008-06-09

Buttsex are you retarded?

Did you even look at that first link? It has big easy to read charts and everything.

If you're going to lie don't put up a link proving it.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-06-09

Hey-- I love giving people links with contradicting information and then watching them flip out. What can I say?

And by the way, it's really funny watching atheists get all pissy about religion, as if it's getting in the way of them achieving true essence of existence, something that atheists have no way of explaining.

Later, PETA fags.

eatenmyeyes - 2008-06-09

Billy, you have already been outed as a troll. You are also a faggot. If you kill yourself, I will send a check to the charity of your choice.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-06-09

But WHEN am I trolling?

Billy Buttsex - 2008-06-09

And did I say I didn't believe the founding fathers were Christians, and influenced by Christian principles?

I just threw in an extra link to fuck with people. I'm still a Christian loving, white-protecting anti-commie.

glasseye - 2008-06-09

Yawn. Go home billy, you don't belong in the big leagues.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-06-09

Big leagues:
n.
1) people who watch will and grace
2) America/Christ-haters

Cleaner82 - 2008-06-09

Your real opinions clearly are not valued even by you, Billy.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2008-06-09

Can we finally rid ourselves of Mr. Hydroencephalic troll please? It was never funny to begin with.

StanleyPain - 2008-06-09

Billy Buttsex = Ryo Cokey?

The Great Hippo - 2008-06-09

I don't hate Christianity and I don't hate America, but I do hate seeing history hijacked for someone else's agenda. Highschools still teach that Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln visited Betsy Ross in a manger outside of Pittsburg to witness the immaculate birth of Jesus Schwartznegger Christ, who emerged wrapped in a 50-star American flag and with shotgun in hand from her virgin womb--right before giving her a swat on the ass.

Statistically, America is a Christian nation, but it's never been a Christian government. People who think otherwise probably aren't people who love history. They have a conclusion and they're looking for evidence to support it ("OH LOOK A FOUNDING FATHER SAID CHRISTIANITY ROCKS! THAT AUTOMATICALLY MEANS THE GOVERNMENT IS CHRISTIAN!")--they're 'magical thinkers'.

Fuck that noise.

nocash - 2008-06-09

So wait what about all the Jewish people?

glasseye - 2008-06-09

Christianity in america: 76% and dropping at about 8% per decade.

Hooker - 2008-06-09

I assume by "Later, PETA fags," he thought all of us were leaving? It's the only reasonable conclusion since Billy's still trolling around.

Walt Henderson - 2008-06-09

5 stars for the misspelled Venture Bros. reference.

dr_rock - 2008-06-09

DIE COCKSUCKER.

5 stars for pure evil.

Needs "why the terrorists hate us" tag. Also needs "why I hate Republicans" tag.

UnderANeonHalo - 2008-06-09

Fundamentalism does not allow for any degree of peace. The inherent belief that only you, and those like you, know the true way in which man must live leads to the inevitable wars between rival schools of thought. Every horrible thing throughout history can be attributed to one man believing himself to be right above all others. THAT is why the terrorists hate the US, THAT is why the US hates them.

That said McCain is a douche.

Since I voiced my opinion, as others on here often do, which differs from what many of you believe I suppose I'll receive numerous flames now. Whatever, it just proves my point that rival schools will always clash.

kiint - 2008-06-09

actually I just wanted to include you in my non-denominational prayers to a possibly-existing all-encompassing energistic state responsible for the creation and balance of the known universe and any other universes I didn't previously mention.

UnderANeonHalo - 2008-06-09

Well thank you Klint, I will be sure to mention you in my dark and mysterious occult rituals as well.

Maggot Brain - 2008-06-09

SECRET MUSLIM.

Camonk - 2008-06-09

I can't find a reason to link this to John McCain being a doddering old moron. I can only find the link to McCain being a pandering douchecunt who will say and do anything to get elected. His friendly smile is more like a horrible skull, too.

dichotic1 - 2008-06-09

Christians are zombie lovers.

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2008-06-09

NO THEY DIDN'T, YOU WRINKLED OLD DOUCHEBAG!

Of all the Republican talking points, I hate this one the most.

KnowFuture - 2008-06-09

The sloppy "sweet can" style of editing hurts the credibility a little.
Oh, I'm sure this asshole is saying exactly what this clip makes it look like he's saying, still...

Lurchi - 2008-06-09

Is "sweet can editing" a term actually used by editors? If not, it should be. -1 star for sweet can editing.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-06-09

Oh don't bring the Founding Fathers into this, you hypocritical revisionist history writing simpleton bastard.

KnowFuture - 2008-06-09

Oh, also...I know I bring this up a lot but I thought I'd share:

From the main PoE page the still of this clip got swapped with a still from the Lewis Black clip somebody just submitted.

If I could give 5 stars to the juxtaposition of John McCain with a Jewish comic talking about the end of the universe, I would surely use them now.

Samisyosam - 2008-06-09

I really hope we start seeing polls in the near future that show us just how much the american public doesn't want to trust this brainwashed republican fossil.

Randroid - 2008-06-09

I love how your nation is even considering electing a doddering Vladimir Harkonnen.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-06-09

Harkonnen was a dynamo compared with McCain. He could float circles around that carcass.

FABIO2 - 2008-06-09

Wait, what were the original European settlers fleeing from again?

Extra credit: what was the dominate religion of Europe at the time?

RomancingTrain - 2008-06-09

I thought the puritans left because Europe didn't have the exact right kind of religious oppression.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-07-07

I thought they left because European Christianity wasn't repressive enough for Puritanical tastes.

It's a damn shame we've pretty much mapped every square inch of the surface of the planet with satellites. There is no New World they can pack up a boat and sail off to.

We need more Jonestowns.

divinitycycle - 2008-06-09

I saw McCain speak at a girlfriend's college graduation ceremony a couple years ago, and even back then the douchebag was in "Permanent Campaign RoboRepublican" mode. If I remember right, the speech he gave was like one opening paragraph of appropriate, "you guys are young and can do anything," kind of crap you'd expect at such an event, followed by like TWO fucking pages worth of "This is why we're right, we have to stay the course in Iraq, blah blah, Republican talking point, blah blah, please re-elect me, blah blah, Christian values, blah blah". I mean fuck, I know politicians usually have an agenda when doing public events, but come on, at least try to camouflage it a little, ya skull-faced fuck! After 8 years of Bush 2: Bush Harder, I'll have to fucking get out of the US is this guy gets elected :(

5 stars for motivating me to actually vote this time...

kingarthur - 2008-06-09

I am SO TIRED of hearing this argument out of anyone that I am personally willing to dole out full-force punches to the head of anyone who says it. It's so obviously false and so obviously revisionist and so obviously evil. Why did we stop feeding these people to lions again? Can someone remind me?

Xenocide - 2008-06-09

This is bullshit. The greatest experiment in the history of mankind is that mouse with an ear growing out of it.

I am continually amazed that people still buy into the "JOHN MCCAIN: MAVERICK CENTRIST" routine. There has been no evidence whatsoever to support it over the last six years or so, unless you count McCain giving speeches where he tells everyone he's a maverick centrist.

kelpfoot - 2008-06-09

I want to like you, McCain, but you keep doing shit like this.

Randroid - 2008-06-09

Imagine McCain's badly-made, plastic flip-flop of human incompetence.

Stamping on a human face.

Forever.

PlushJake - 2008-06-09

This nation was based on christian principles. Like turn the other cheek. Now let's go kick some muslim ass! This guy's full of shit.

Senator_Unger - 2008-06-09

I've actually gotten into arguments with "Christians" before who say that "turn the other cheek" doesn't apply to people who attacked you. These people aren't even close to Christians, they're just modern Fascists who found "God".

charmlessman - 2008-06-09

McCain you fucking old prick. In God We Trust was adopted in 1956. You should remember that, you were a teenager then.

America was founded on FREEDOM of religion. For example, I'm free to research Voodoo so I can figure out a way to steal McCain's voice until the election.

Lothar - 2008-06-09

Every time a serious, non-satirical news network clip appears on POETV , another kitten is born.

Can we get back to comedy/horror/weird schtick please??

RockBolt - 2008-06-09

Don't come back
