Aaaacid attacks...? News to me.
glasseye - 2008-06-14 Seriously? You've never heard of this problem?
Wow.
Spike Jonez - 2008-06-14 Used to happen in the 19th century. Whores would attack one another this way to ruin their trade. The french had a word for for a woman who'd attack with acid: "vitrioleuse."
Cleaner82 - 2008-06-14 I suppose you could say it wasn't on my radar. And that is a damn cool tidbit Jonez.
glasseye - 2008-06-14 Newsflash for Cleaner82 - there's lots of killing going on in Sudan, Kenya had some pretty nasty violence earlier in the year, and Bush is a bad president.

Where do you buy acid? Like... if I were to go to Bangladesh, do you think I could get away with this type of shit? Honestly, I'm a little intrigued. It's like a more accessible and humane version of the Most Dangerous Game.
Blackbetta - 2008-06-14 You can get acid at practically any factory (particularly battery factories) or farms (where they use them to treat seeds). And, yes, you could get away with it - it's rarely prosecuted, although in 2002 it was made punishable by death in Bangladesh.
LJ: I helped edit this footage when I was living in London. The news crew managed to buy a liter of acid in a matter of minutes for a couple of quid.

Cleaner82 - 2008-06-14 As if the impoverished girls of Bangladesh don't have enough to deal with, now some pudgy little American POE nerd is going around throwing acid at them.
