"The angry white man" was a droolingly pathetic cliche in the early 90's. This was a weak attempt by Joel Shumacher - easily one of the worst directors in the history of film, a pathetic simulacrum of a human being - to capitalize on the willingness of dumb yuppies to lick this shit up. "Falling Down" was a big deal for Time and Newsweek readers. Submit some Forest Gump videos next - actually, don't.

oogaBooga - 2008-06-22

Douchebag.

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2008-06-22

You do realize the purpose of Robert Duvall's character, right? A white man of the same age, with many of the same problems, who does the right thing and doesn't go insane?

Oh wait, that would require intelligence

Lurchi - 2008-06-22

You do realize the movie was made for lowest common denominator assholes right? Any value beyond that is pure camp? Next: defend "St Elmo's Fire" and "Batman & Robin".

nuzzles - 2008-06-22

...do you not feel St. Elmo's Fire burning in you?

voodoo_pork - 2008-06-22

Aryan Warrior Week continues.

BTW, St. Elmo's Fire isn't actually fire. Read a book.

a flaming monkey - 2008-06-22

Angry white man? Cliche? He seemed quite reasonable to me.

Camonk - 2008-06-22

YOUR FACE IS A WEAK ATTEMPT BY JOEL SCHUMACHER!

There! How do you like that? Man after you talked about Star Control on the Genesis, I thought you were cool.

StanleyPain - 2008-06-22

It's a funny scene in an enjoyable movie that was entertaining to watch.

Apparently if you have a weepy vagina, said enjoyment cannot be had.

a flaming monkey - 2008-06-22

Haha, voodoo pork, have you not heard the St Elmo's fire song? The chorus goes something like 'I can feel St Elmo's fire burning in me'. It's probably one of the greatest songs ever made. I have the 1200 inch vinyl as performed by Andrea Bocelli circa 1789.

Five stars against Lurchi! Start the crusade!

Mr.Graves - 2008-06-22

Lurchi- either you have only seen this movie in 60 second commercials, or heavy industrial cleaners were the huff of choice for your mother while she was pregnant with you.

The movie has nothing to do with the main protagonist being white. The easiest way to explain that to a simple mind is to suggest to them that they consider the exact same movie with a black or asian lead character. No change would have occured.

The premise of the movie is the disconnect and isolation the modern male feels subjected to a world where obvious wrongs are ignored and trivial differences are held against him.

This movie could have easily been shot in the exact same way with the same message if a black man played the lead role- the only reason a caucasion was used was because it added to the emphasis for the viewer that everyone, not just the predetermined disenchanted, are stuck in a fucked up and completely idiotic system.

The movie wasn`t about the `poor white man`and I`m sorry if you are too stupid to realize that.

Bravo.

I hate to clap with Enjoy, but sometimes, you little pricks are wrong.

Now what's wrong... with the street.

Enjoy - 2008-06-22

I'm just surprised at how much of a shitstorm this film kicks up.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-06-22

I also hate to pull an Eskagrimlson(sp?) here, [Sorry Slaggy, not Enjoy donut machine man]

But you people miss the point of this video like you miss the point of Aliens being a sci-fi Vietnam movie.

svraz - 2008-06-22

weak

Smellvin - 2008-06-22

I was waiting for this scene since Falling Down week began.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-06-22

Sad how everyone thinks this is some kind of aryan fantasy wankfest or whatever, when the first person he snaps on is Rick, the military surplus store owner with a hardon for nazi paraphernalia.

FABIO2 - 2008-06-22

If there are two things POE hates, it's white people and cops.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-06-22

You forgot to include sick fucking freaks.

boner - 2008-06-22

If you think about it, realize that he's righting all the wrongs that every stand-up comic has ever complained about, except airline food.

Cleaner82 - 2008-06-24

Thank god there was a little black kid around to tell him how the gun worked!

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-08-10

And whiteboy still almost blew the whole lot of them to Kingdom Come!

Goethe and ernie - 2008-09-08

I liked this film when I was 14, but it's kind of shonky. The bit where the kid knows how to use the bazooka because he "saw it on TV" is heavyhanded to the point of being embarrassing. I like this scene anyway.
