Still one of my all-time favorite cartoons, if just because Tylor is such an unappologetic, lazy disheveled coward the whole damn series long.

FREE FOOD.

FREE CLOTHES.

PENSION.

BOOK DEAL.

GO NAVY.

This show aggressively pushes the notion that being a lazy, fast-talking good-for-nothing is a type of zen perfection which all men should aspire to, and such individuals should be put in positions of high authority. I love this show.

Well, it also harps on the idea that the only good way to wage war is to reject the act of fighting. I always liked that.

I also love they made it almost seem like it's all a brilliant plan of his before you just realize...nope, he's just the luckiest bastard in the world.

The first time Cap'n Justy runs up against an enemy ship, he's all like WE SURRENDER

And wins

Anime ship captains are either Captain Harlock or this guy.

Sometimes, they are a combination of the two.

Finally, an anime protagonist I can relate to!

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-06-21

Japan's total lack of a military results in its population makes me hope that when they go for one, it will look exactly like this. Complete with bubbly airheaded girl sidekicks with too tight uniforms and ten year old computer specialists.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-06-21

should be 'its population fantasizing about one and...'

Wait, I might actually watch this one.
