You're missing the point (which is understandable as this clip omits the part where Dan explains it.) Both are stupid things to raise a stink about. Abrhams point is that the media pounced on one meaningless out-of-context comment, but ignored three other very similar ones (by the actual candidate, no less, not just his wife.) He's not going after McCain so much as going after the media.

At the end of the clip he says McCain's words are eloquent and even inspiring. You people need to learn to decipher the English language.

I'm pretty sure Michelle Obama never said she was disdainful of America in that comment. And I'm pretty sure her point of pride wasn't the fact that people are voting for her husband, but the fact that so many people are energized about his candidacy and politics in general, and the fact that this country is actually willing to vote for a black candidate despite our history of racism. A history (and present state) of racism that I think makes it hard for many blacks in this country to be very proud of their country.

I will concede though they are different comments, but I think he makes a good point about the media's eagerness to jump on Michelle while generally giving McCain a free pass on his faux pas. Though really "the media" is a bit too general of a statement since both candidates have substantial media bias in their favor in various newspapers, magazines, websites and tv stations.

This is why conservatives are morons. Or, actually, it's one of the thousands of reasons. This blindered love of America makes them think that anybody who ever criticizes America is one: disdainful of it and two: somehow not a good American. What the fuck kind of thinking is that? McCain is saying that being away from America is what made him start loving it. Michelle Obama is saying that seeing her country grow up a little, and also try to move on from eight solid years of being deceived, used, and also of being stupid (oops, I must hate America) makes her proud of it for the first time in her adult life. Shit, okay. I still haven't been proud of America in my adult life, since for most of it, George Bush has been president and has made America an embarrassing place.

But yeah, Billy, the guy who CAN'T grok that is the only one here who can think.

I would like for you to list the number of magazine covers with John Mccain's face on them, and then contrast with the number of covers with Obama.

In a race between an old white man, and a black man with Hussein in his name, the old white man is never going to be the underdog.

I have no idea where I would find numbers for magazine cover face time, but McCain himself has called the press "his base". Two AP reporters gave him his favorite kind of donuts before a media address (which got him a standing ovation from his base).

Then look at things like McCain linking Iran and Al Qaeda as a talking point, which the media excuses as a slip of the tongue. Or the lack of coverage of his temper in any meaningful way.

I'm not saying Obama hasn't gotten some padded treatment but the media wasn't exactly kind to him during the Rev. scandal or with his innocuous associations with Rezko, etc. There's media bias on both sides and it's not good for either side.

Tell you what. Show me where in the mainstream media (print or television or whatever) the press is pouncing on McCain's comments here to the same extent and in the same context they are Michelle Obama's comments.
