As far as I'm concerned, this looks pure awesome, especially seeing that maybe many of the more "magical" kind of skills might actually be useful now. BUT, that said, this demo thingy leads to the question: will the game still have randomly generated levels and areas if they're going to rely on scripted events? I know D2 had a few set areas that never changed, but most of the world was randomized in some way.

Millard - 2008-06-29

I think the randomly-generated maps are pretty much the calling card of this series.

I'm more hopeful that it'll let you reset your skills like WoW does instead of making them permanent like Diablo II does, where it's quite possible to experiment a bit and wind up with a character that sucks and no way to fix it.

According to the FAQ, some levels will be premade, others will be randomly generated. By the sound of it, the randomly generated levels will have random setpieces, like the demon-circle thing in this video, to spice them up and make them feel less like a bunch of corridors slapped together.

It ripped him in half...

Pillager - 2008-06-29

I like how Blizzard is taking cool things from Starcraft & reimplementing them into Diablo 3.

This'll be a great game.

FABIO2 - 2008-12-01

It was a disaster when they tried putting Diablo stuff into Warcraft.

Dear Leader - 2008-06-29

This will be the only game that will matter.

theSnake - 2008-06-29

The gameplay looks like it actually requires more than left clicking. Maybe it won't suck ass.

Stoked for this

Quad9Damage - 2008-06-29

The interactive environment is priceless. I can't wait to crush armies with huge stone walls.

Meerkat - 2008-06-29

He needs to get his foot blisters looked at; every time he jumps pus spews out and knocks everyone down.

fatatty - 2008-06-29

The first two had me bored after a couple hours each. This looks to change that. Destructible environments and flesh eating locusts. What more could you ask for?

Endoris - 2008-06-29

Flesh eating environments, that's what!

Hakujinjoe - 2008-06-29

I haven't been playing any games for years. The release of this will change that.

Lurchi - 2008-06-29

Looks like Scholomance.

SolRo - 2008-06-29

I wasn't expecting blizzard to do anything new or innovative, and I wasn't dissapointed.

craptacular - 2008-06-29

i'm glad to see Mr."Stay a while and glisten!" is still around. he's gotta be like 150 years old now.

i played D2 to death... while i couldn't really stomach another Diablo incarnation, i'll probably play this anyway.

Monchiles Monchiles - 2008-06-29

Minus one star for creating hype that will ultimately let me down.

Zhou Fang - 2008-06-29

It's all about the loot! Ignore more than 50,000 drops of rusted iron boots!

Hopefully there will be a way to implement other controls than just click-to-move.

dementomstie - 2008-06-30

looks cool and my computer probably isn't powerful enough to play it. Hooray?

KnowFuture - 2008-06-30

One of my favorite things about Blizzard is that they know not to fuck with something that people like in their games.

YET ANOTHER REASON (others being Spore and the new wow addon) to start savin' them shekels up for a computer that doesn't suck (current machine: Dell Optiplex SX260...basically, an office network computer with a decent processor but a really shitty built-in graphics array...the price was right...)

KnowFuture - 2008-09-23

UPDATE: Fuck Spore.

Nominal - 2021-02-05

Update: Diablo 3 sucked :(
