I was too young to see this when it was originally on, but I still remember my mother complaining about "The vulgar guy in the leather jacket" and how awful he was.
It's amazing how terrible his career crashed and burned by the end of the 80s, whereas Yakov Smirnoff makes shitloads of money still doing the same bit over and over again at his own club somewhere in the midwest, where they still believe the cold war is happening.
It's a shame I can't find footage of his "finest" moment, as a guest on the Arsenio Hall show to promote the then upcoming "Adventures of Ford Fairlane". Eventually he started tearing up and a bloo hoo hooed to Arsenio about how the "Diceman" is just an act, a persona and he's was really a nice guy...it was hilarious.
He is still doing these jokes but he has added a few updates like putting contacts in your phone and ordering things off Amazon because he has his finger on the pulse.
