Falling Down is boring, clumsy, obvious crap that has hypnotized a bunch of slow dinks who try to post FIRST on Aint it Cool News forums. Worship of this film makes no sense to me and never will.

In other news, Schumacher's first Batman film (number 3 I think) was the best of the series by far. It was everything the other Batman films should have been, far better than the posturing, unenjoyable Burton films.

The posturing, unenjoyable Jim Carrey and underwritten Two-Face? Not to mention Val Kilmer's performance as Bruce Wayne could have just as easily been done by a store mannequin.

Looking back at this entire franchise... wow. The Burton films have a dark camp feel to them that's kinda queasy now, but Schumacher just stepped in and seemed to aim for the 60's TV show instead.

With a side of BDSM. The oft-discussed nipples-on-the-batsuit thing is the most obvious, but did you notice he never missed an opportunity to flash each individually molded bat-buttcheek?

jangbones, you should really watch Batman Forever again sometime. It probably has a bright future as a cult classic along the lines of Forbidden Planet or Logan's Run, but mainly because it is in such poor taste - neon everywhere, overuse of close-ups and zooms, terrible batman performance, degrading and pointless redesign of his costume and toys - yet it somehow holds together where B&R falls apart. Burton's Batman actually holds up pretty well to what the comic was. Dark camp. I mean, the thing has Bob Kane's stamp of approval as being true to what Batman was all about and, besides, Michael Keaton giving us a slightly loopy Bruce Wayne as opposed to the more ordinary, dare I say boring, one we usually see is delightful.

I loved falling down. Yes it has its flaws but all in all it is a fun movie to watch. Who can hate the "Whammy Burger" scene (other than homos)?

I can't figure out if Jangbones was actually covertly supporting Falling Down with his post or not. Could such an expertly timed suicide of credibility ("here are some reasons this movie is terrible. In other news, Batman Forever is a masterpiece") have been mere coincidence? I think not.

I sort of have a soft spot for Lost Boys and Flatliners. As a little kid those movies struck me as the most amazing thing ever.

I love the 60's Batman, but Joel Schumacher's film doesn't look like anyone working on it thought they were making something they'd like to see. Also I don't remember but in terms of box office I think he got his ass handed to him, so it didn't do it's job in that respect. It was enough for the bosses to take him off the franchise and put the series on hiatus, anyway.

Oh yeah, and St. Elmo's Fire can go and eat a dick, too.
