This movie deserves more recognition.

Paul Morrissey is a director as industrialist. He just let the people do shit and pointed a camera at them.

"Perhaps the most bizarre aspect of Morrissey, probably irrelevant to the brilliance of the films, is his political profile. Yes, the maker of Trash, Flesh, and Heat is a right-wing, reactionary, Catholic Republican! Writer Maurice Yacowar has quoted him as follows: "Without institutionalized religion as the basis, a society can't exist. All the sensible values of a solid education and a moral foundation have been flushed down the liberal toilet in order to sell sex, drugs, and rock and roll." Whew! Since it's impossible to reconcile these knuckleheaded views with Morrissey's unique body of work (which could never have been made in the kind of fascist theocracy he seems to desire), I mention it merely for the convenience of completists."

I sort of think he's doing this just to continue shocking people.

About 11 years ago Scarecrow Video in Seattle sponsored a screening of Blood for Dracula with Udo Kier and Paul Morrissey present and taking questions at the end. According to Morrissey, the only reason Dracula and Frankenstein were made was so that they would filter through the international film distribution networks with Andy Warhol's name in the title, e.g. "Andy Warhol's Dracula," thus increasing his international name recognition.

Personally I love this movie, regardless of it's intellectual/pop-culture origins. From the ultra sappy theme music to Udo Kier's accent to Little Joe's socialist plotting, I think this movie is a big bucket of fun. End of speech.
