PARKED CARS ARE NOT IMMUNE TO OTHER CARS SMASHING INTO THEM.

I was in a parked car which was smashed into at about 45mph - i was the only stoner in there wearing my seatbelt.

So yes, there is a legitimate reason to buckle up even if you aren't going anywhere. Especially if you're incredibly unlucky.
