This flick was awesome (despite the twenty-something "teenagers") and deserves its place in film history and will be a perpetual classic. I have it on video and let my seven-year-old nephew watch it. Despite being heavily dated and totally lacking CG special effects, it still became one of his favorite monster movies.
Good God, man. I saw it when I was 7, and had nightmares for fucking years. Every night, I fell asleep staring at the furnace grate, in case the Blob oozed out like in the movie. I missed the very end so it was 2-3 years before it came on TV again and I learned how to stop it.
"It creeps, it leaps" also worried me because the Blob does not leap, at least it BETTER not. So much childhood fear caused by a big glob of strawberry jam.
Whoever was responsible for the 80's remake should be shot. It was neither cool nor scary, just shit and sfx.
