Now look, that could have been a truck full of any sort of gun shaped, weaponlike objects.

simon666 - 2008-08-27

Well if they didn't hit the guys, they definitely hit everything else, a lot. Also: delivery "systam"

robotkarateman - 2008-08-27

I wasn't really impressed with this until the second view. I would really like to know how high up these guys were and what they looked like from the ground.

baleen - 2008-08-27

Apaches fly around in total darkness and engage enemies over two miles away, so you can't even hear them flying around before they hit you.

robotkarateman - 2008-08-27

They were apparently close enough for the one dude to know what he was shooting at. Or at least where it was.

Whitewater5 - 2008-08-27

wow murder without consequences sure is cool

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-27

What a cromulent point.

kelpfoot - 2008-08-27

Hey Whitewater, you realize you're supposed to rate the videos and not the war, right?

Whitewater5 - 2008-08-27

sorry if my two-star rating briefly interrupted your oohing and aahing over how cool murder is, perhaps you could drown your sorrows in an entire pig you fat American piece of shit

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-27

Ritalin. Learn to love it.

simon666 - 2008-08-27

OMG U GUYS WHITEWATER5 IS BUTT HURT!

If I hadn't already rated this, I would vote 5 just for whitewaters incessant need to moralize, on poe of all places.

simon666 - 2008-08-27

ps - cleaner, nice use of cromulent.

DopeFiend - 2008-08-27

Whitewater, all moralizing aside, killing the enemy in a war is not technically murder.

As to your other remarks, and your general presence on POE, Cleaner82 has already said everything better than I could.

futurebot - 2008-08-27

I'm with Whitewater on this one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gulf_War_Did_Not_Take_Place

zatojones - 2008-08-27

boom boom

Dicknuts - 2008-08-27

War brings people together.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2008-08-27

Just pretend they're shooting white southern evangelicals.

waxeater - 2008-08-27

I was going to get mad, but then I figured it was too much effort and just ate an entire pig, as Whitewater5 suggested.

Whitewater5 - 2008-08-27

>>>Whitewater, all moralizing aside, killing the enemy in a war is not technically murder.

This is murder. This is the killing of at least three men who did not initiate force, were given no chance to surrender, were not even aware of their aggressor until they were under attack, were not given a trial, were not given a chance for any other punishment than summary execution based on the single testimony of a 19-year-old with a GED looking at lumps under a tarp three miles away through a shaky, grainy black-and-white camera - and what were they accused of, other than carrying weapons in a war zone with the worst-case intention of using them to resist a brutal occupier? This is murder. You five starred a snuff film.

Comeuppance - 2008-08-27

Whatever. This particular set of murders was fucking sweet.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-27

If right and wrong were generally an indicator of star ratings, this site would be a broken landscape of boring crap.

StanleyPain - 2008-08-27

As much as I hate the Iraq war and what is going on there, calling this murder is ridiculous. Like it or not the soldiers are doing their fucking job and clearly were acting within the parameters they're supposed to. It's a fucking warzone. Save your indignation for the soldiers who ARE the problem, not the ones being shot at and out there every day facing insurgents and extremists trying to KILL THEM.
For every video of some soldier doing something stupid or going apeshit, there's dozens more you don't see of soldiers trying to do their jobs as best as they can and as honorably as they can in a situation that puts them all at risk.

Operation Cornflakes - 2008-08-27

I'm sure Whitewater has a point. That truck wasn't full of weapons, it was full of candy and kittens and the love of baby Jesus.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-27

Well look, my point is this. I'm not a supporter of the war, I can absolutely understand where he's coming from, I'm just annoyed that he downvotes clips like these. A downvote doesn't mean the people on the clip are bad men, it doesn't mean the context of the clip is horrifying, all a downvote means is that he wants the clip GONE. Why? Why would you want this gone? If you're going to make your argument, fine, make it, but he should want this here for everybody to see, and to coin a phrase I think he's doing it wrong.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-27

And additionally Whitewater, as to your comments, you say these men were given no chance to surrender. Do you understand that in a war conflicts are not initiated by yelling, "Stop, police"? Do you understand that for a few hundred years now, a soldier is not required to declare his presence before attacking?

Whitewater5 - 2008-08-27

i downvote shit like this for the same reason you'd downvote an al-Jazeera clip of a submission of a Blackwater contractor getting his head sawed off

Whitewater5 - 2008-08-27

>>>>As much as I hate the Iraq war and what is going on there, calling this murder is ridiculous. Like it or not the soldiers are doing their fucking job and clearly were acting within the parameters they're supposed to. It's a fucking warzone. Save your indignation for the soldiers who ARE the problem, not the ones being shot at and out there every day facing insurgents and extremists trying to KILL THEM.

well gee willickers it's almost as if their "fucking job" is murder, their accepted parameters of engagement are indefensible, it's a warzone because we made it that way, and the insurgents are entirely 100% justified in trying to kill them

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-27

A lot of what you're saying I agree with. All of that aside, many of your assertions are absurd and you do the anti-war crowd no favors by refusing to think about the realities of armed conflict. Are you going to address the idea that you feel these insurgents should be warned before they're attacked? Does that really make any sense to you? You seem to be saying our servicemen should adopt tactics that will get them killed because the conflict is unjust, and A does not at all follow B.

All of this is a consequence of our government wanting to fight a war and sending out a populace with no stomach for American casualties in an ethically hazy conflict to do their dirty work. Less risk of American casualties equates to more collateral, just ask an Afghani. Stop shitting on the peons over there risking their lives for their ideals, focus on the men that fooled them. Anything less is unconstructive and unfair. What, you think levelling all this crap at soldiers gets to the heart of the matter? You're just letting them serve their intended purpose -- a big human shield between our administration and those wishing to harm it.

None of this is worth discussing, none of these comments are worth retaining to you? What makes you so sure I'd downvote that beheading clip if it popped up? You say 'you' instead of 'I'. Does that mean you wouldn't downvote that beheading clip? If not, why not?

Whitewater5 - 2008-08-27

They're not risking their lives for their ideals, they're risking their lives for a ten thousand dollar signing bonus and a steady job, and those rare ones who are capable of comprehending dimly the horrid ethics of what they're doing are risking their lives because they're too cowardly to do the right thing, which is desert. They are hired muscle, nothing more.

And yeah I'd vote down a beheading video, even if it looked like a really cool part of a videogame *gasp*

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-27

Your belief that not a single person in the military believes they are doing the right thing is absolutely false.

baleen - 2008-08-27

Baleen goes to whitewater's house and murders him.

futurebot - 2008-08-27

I'd 1 star this no matter who is getting killed, for whatever reason. It's a cool high-tech snuff film, and it isn't less of a snuff film just because it's cool and high-tech. I'd also 1 star child pornography, even if it was shot on a bluescreen with groundbreaking CGI backgrounds.

Desidiosus - 2008-08-27

There will be a point, several thousand years from now, when there won't be enough resources on the planet left to make war machines. Then we'll be back to braining each other with rocks and clubs and the world will be a better place.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-27

What're you talking about? We'll still have a bonanza of nukes at that point!

Desidiosus - 2008-08-27

Yes, but we'll be busy worshiping them as gods until Charlton Heston shows us the error of our ways.

Syd Midnight - 2008-08-27

Hey Whitewater, you need to go here:

http://www.poe-news.com

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-08-28

Oh, dear. Now I feel bad about playing Command & Conquer.

mr666 - 2009-05-20

God, what a worthless piece of shit Whitewater is.

Wombles - 2010-09-06

I sympathize to a degree. What if it were US soldiers being killed? More to the point, what if the people dying were white people who look like you and your family/friends.

If you could hear some guy running for his life screaming "Oh god nooo" in English it might make more of an impression. And to the extent that happens, it's bullshit.

The real question is why we have a right to kill afghans because of their tacit/verbal support of an arab extremist group that didn't exactly attack from Afghanistan. And if your answer is "Because they're backwards, evil, religious extremists" you're doing it wrong.

Thatcher Pennywhistle - 2008-08-27

azimuth. limit.

Syd Midnight - 2009-05-17

Does that mean they were doing some crazy angle John Woo shot?

SolRo - 2008-08-27

The airforce was bound to find guys with actual guns at some point, only took them how many years?

fermun - 2008-08-27

Yes indeed. Finally, years after the invasion of Iraq, some guys with a real gun are found.

Seriously... are you retarded? We may be fighting an unjustified and poorly planned war, but they haven't been using super soakers over there, SolRo.

SolRo - 2008-08-27

retard, if you have no idea about how many civilians the air units in iraq/afghanistan have intentionaly killed, thinking they were enemies at the time, then keep your mouth shut.

Not to mention it's wholesale slaughter, if they decide to shoot then everyone dies, no one to surrender to.

fermun - 2008-08-27

When you post videos of that happening, I will rate those accordingly.

waxeater - 2008-08-27

Have you guys ever been to Wholesale Slaughter? Some great deals.

fermun - 2008-08-27

I don't like those big box stores. I prefer to support my local economy, so I only get massacres locally.

victorm - 2008-08-27

I don't know if you noticed or not but these folks don't tend to surrender very often.

homohabilis - 2008-08-27

i don't like to say it, but i really like nintendo warfare.

Repomancer - 2008-08-27

Still, ya gotta be impressed . . .

mouser - 2008-08-27

Yeah. I'm amazed they can have that good of a view from so far as to not even be heard on the ground.

Cena_mark - 2008-08-27

Its sad how many of you libs take the side of the Enemy. Those guys had a truck full of small arms and needed to neutralized. Granted collateral damage takes place, but we keep it to a minimum. This is a fucking war people, let us win this time.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2008-08-27

http://www.marines.com/

Knock yourself out, bro.

Mad Struggle - 2008-08-27

I'm a liberal and believe that riddling these guys with bullets was called for.

StanleyPain - 2008-08-27

Nice troll, dumbass,. Did you even LOOK at the comments here before you whipped that chestnut out?

Whitewater5 - 2008-08-27

hmm yes those men deserved to be "riddled with bullets" because they dared resist the United States, how progressive

Mad Struggle - 2008-08-27

Uhg, Whitewater. You're either an idiot or half-assed troll.

It's not like neither you or I know what these guys do to their own people.

Whitewater5 - 2008-08-27

oh you also use bald-faced racism to justify your opinions, this is of course a shocking turn of events

Syd Midnight - 2008-08-27

So, Cena mark and Whitewater, which of you is the double from an alternate dimension?

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2008-08-27

AC 130 gunner: BEST JOB IN THE WORLD

Camonk - 2008-08-27

Those guys were pretty good at Call of Duty. I wonder how they'd be in a real war?

zatojones - 2008-08-27

this is video from an Apache helicopter

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2008-08-27

Shit you're right. It's been ages since I last played Jane's Longbow, but sure enough, that's the TADS thingy display.

Unmerciful Crushing Force - 2008-08-27

For better and for worse, this shows the reality of the conflict. If nothing else, I'm at least happy that everyone, even the guy in the first part, despite being clearly unnerved, managed to keep their cool 'til given proper authorization.

Whitewater5 - 2008-08-27

WOW yeah, they must have had nerves of steel to keep their cool against an enemy that was three miles away and didn't even know they were there

Valkor - 2008-08-27

Hey, white water, why not just start talking about how real men fight with swords? How many do you own?

chumbucket - 2008-08-27

yeah swords fired from 7500 feet at a rate of 2000 per minute, SHA-ZAY-UM!

wtf japan - 2008-08-27

Go weep your yeasty discharge somewhere else, Whitewater. These are spite-stars.

zatojones - 2008-08-27

So is it like your job to let your heart bleed all over every video from a war you come across on this site? You're a faggot. We get it already!

futurebot - 2008-08-27

OK I am genuinely curious, war nerds, were the people in the helicopter actually in any kind of legitimate danger?

Dr Dim - 2008-08-27

I'm not going to weigh in on whether it needed to be done but seeing people being killed like rabbits by millions of dollars of military technology is pretty depressing, and enjoying it is creepy as hell.

You can go ahead and call me a pussy now, kids.

theSnake - 2008-08-27

Boy I sure am glad I live in Jesusland and not Dumbfuckistan. USA USA USA

Udderdude - 2008-08-27

LOL THOSE GUYS GOT OWNED, AMIRITE

Syd Midnight - 2008-08-27

The delivery system was 2 Apaches using 30mm chain guns.

detc - 2009-06-24

Looks like the "I've got a boner for war" crew's had it's way with this video.
