Bill Maher is the most smug fucker on the planet. For the commercial bumpers for Politically Incorrect they would show clips from his audience warmup, and after each lame BUT TOPICAL joke he would drop the microphone from his face and look at crowd like, why don't you laugh a little more please thanks.

I rented this several months ago, and made it about 20 minutes in. The "jokes" in this thing (as much as I watched, anyway) consist of "Isn't Bush a lousy president?" and "I think fundamentalists are fucking up our country", and the audience spends the entire time cheering rather than laughing.

I've heard funnier Ralph Nader speeches.

yes, bill maher is fucking irritating as hell. I like some of the guests he has on the show, but he's a half-literate, failed standup comedian turned B movie actor who somehow made it big simply by being one of the first cable faces to start being "political but funny" when Comedy Central was just warming up its evening programming experiments. If there's ever a case of right place at the right time it's written all over the career of Bill Maher.

Substitute the word Swiss for the word gay when you listen to it.

Bill Maher is my idol. He is unapologetically smug because he's right about everything. His standup isn't that great.

Sorry, Bill, I can't take you seriously. Not even when you're trying to be funny. You're like every other college pain in the ass who thinks articulate derision of easy targets somehow equals incisive, thoughtful political comment. I liked ya better in 'Jungle Girls'.
