If there's one thing McCain has on Obama (other than non-socialist policy), it's the fact that he's a true American hero. I never really though too incredibly much about his war record, but when he explained it in this speech, I realized it actually meant something. It absolutely made up for his lack of charisma.

God bless John McCain.

FatFatuousNation - 2008-09-05

And god bless you, Billy Buttsex. Also, it would be unwise to trust Billy Buttsex with your 50 minutes, if you missed the speech. His recounting of being a POW might be worth listening to, but it was otherwise boring and uneventful.

nocash - 2008-09-05

They spent most of the convention talking about Obama, and then they wheel this stiff out.

Paracelsus - 2008-09-05

I'm really glad and grateful that John McCain served our country in the way he did. I wish he didn't have to get tortured. Being tortured and having been a POW does not qualify someone to be president. There are plenty of people who have served our country well in the military and faithfully who still shouldn't be president. This is one of them.

Also, to point out the obvious, the military is not the only substantive way to serve the nation.

KnowFuture - 2008-09-06

Democrat = liberal = socialist = EAT A DICK

SDAusmus - 2008-09-06

What a hero, graduating from the Naval Academy at the bottom of his class and crashing two planes and flying another one into power lines before getting shot down and captured.

simon666 - 2008-09-06

the concept of laissez faire is really outdated mr buttsex. it was first disregarded in the 1870s when the The Grange, a political group of farmers pressed the the federal gov to regulate the railroad for its unfair price structuring. ultimately the supreme court sided with the farmers stating the government had right to intervene in things of public use. the "hands off" approach leaving business to itself ultimately harmed the average working citizen and profited the wealthy business owners.

the whole idea of calling working class people who try to reform government and corporate socialist, is also as old, stemming from business trying to prevent their workers from unionizing when the average work schedule was 12-14hrs a day, 6 days a week. this stigma was further enforced after the hay market square riots.

i believe you believe what you are saying. and based on what you know, it is probably logical and of reason. but you don't have a full picture, making your points narrow (short sighted).

StanleyPain - 2008-09-06

Actually, McCain should probably shut the fuck up at this point about his "War record", which isn't really anything special. He wasn't the only POW. He wasn't the only vet. Thousands if not millions of people in this country had someone close to them involved in Vietnam or Korea or WW2 or any number of wars and conflicts. McCain's ultimate disrespect to all the military men and women of this country is his continuous wrapping of himself in this blanket of "I'M A P.O.W!!! I'M SPECIAL!" Too bad he voted along with the Bush crowd to reduce troop leave, increase tours of duty, not bother with improving the funding or conditions of V.A. medical care or anything of that sort. So, if McCain wants to paint himself as some sort of ersatz hero, he obviously can (and does), but most vets know he's a fucking blowhard.

baleen - 2008-09-06

I find McCain's constant reminding of everyone that he is a hero to be in extremely bad taste. I find his sudden embracing of God to be rather disgusting. I once respected McCain, but he's become a parody of himself. He's lost it.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-09-06

You guys mean "in bad taste" as in the media's constant reminding that Obama's multiracial? Quite frankly, I find war-hero status to be more impressive than a done-nothing mook.

jesustweak - 2008-09-05

The good man in the cell next door to me, my friend Bob Crane saved me. Through taps on the wall, he told me to get back up because tonight while Klink was busy with the sexy secret double agent he had seduced, I had to sneak out and impersonate Hilter at a beer garden.

Billie_J_Buttfuck - 2008-09-05

Ohmygod boring. I skipped four minutes in, and they were still chanting.

I tried to hang on. I couldn't. I really couldn't. Out of fairness, no rating, but OHMYGOD boring.

Camonk - 2008-09-05

Every time I hear them chanting for McCain it just seems like they're trying too hard to show how enthusiastic they are. We love our guy just like you guys love Obama even though every poll shows no we don't.

Torture the Artist - 2008-09-05

I love how the crowd's response to "Many of you have lost your jobs and your homes and are going hungry" is to feverishly chant "USA!"

dr_rock - 2008-09-05

Wow talk about assholes... "Things are actually tough-" "USA! USA! USA!" Reminds me of the "get a brain, morans" guy.

8 years ago I used to think McCain would make a great president. I voted for him in the primary, though he lost out to Bush. He is a sad shell of what he used to be. Now I can't stand to even look at the guy... that fucking grin, and his deformed stature (and face)... with that stiff pointing... I'm no Obama fanboi, but it's very obvious to me that the guy would be a better leader. McCain had his chance 8 years ago and the GOP gave him the shaft. Too little, too late, too old.

Also, agreed, this is just boring.

Gianni - 2008-09-06

My impression was that when they're chanting 'USA USA USA' during this speech its mostly because there were 3 separate protesters holding anti-McCain banners who the crowd was reacting to. That's why the chants seem to come regardless of what McCain is saying.

dueserpenti - 2008-09-05

It's terrible that he was a POW and everything, but this speech is just not interesting.

chumbucket - 2008-09-06

It's terrible he has to keep reminding, no SPAMMING, the voting public with the fact he was a POW just to get a one-up on a more qualified candidate for this job

Stog - 2008-09-06

bang to buck ratio - 2008-09-06

As much as I'd like to VOTE OBAMA VIA MY STARS this is an important submission and thank you, buttnutt, for putting it up.

Cena_mark - 2008-09-06

Not flashy but full of substance. Obama's speech was like a Michael Bay film, all flash, but no soul. McCain's played like Citizen Kane. Not flashy, deep, and called boring by retards.

SolRo - 2008-09-06

CM just wants to suck that mans electrocuted scrotum so much.

Billie_J_Buttfuck - 2008-09-06

A very mild fuck you for comparing this to Citizen Kane.

You know, the worst troll we have here is just a cookie-cutter Republican/wrestling fan? Life isn't so bad, really.

glasseye - 2008-09-06

If by deep you mean "full of lies," then yes.

More republican propaganda. It's amazing how they convince so many people to vote against their own economic and social interests in the name of "conservatism."

Stog - 2008-09-06

Yeah, you're full of shit. I can see the zipper on your costume, Cena_mark.

StanleyPain - 2008-09-06

It's not so much that it's boring but that it's shit we've all heard before in McCain's unimaginative, intellectually dishonest TV ads. He is apparently incapable of really coming up with much more than than another phoned-in robo-speech. I guess they spent their load on trying to make Palin look good.

baleen - 2008-09-06

Substance? "The Gooks staved me." = "I will reverse the debt that I helped create." Well, ok, you people are the ones who speak in crazy war death talk. I can't really parse it anymore.

Xenocide - 2008-09-06

This was so unbelievably boring, I began making up my own acceptance speech. Most of it was stolen from cartoons, though.

MY FELLOW AMERICANS! AS A CHILD, I TOO DREAMED OF BEING A BASEBALL.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-09-06

I'm giving this 2 stars because of the obvious POW stream of hypocrisy (you voted against the war vets and you don't get to rewrite history, fucktard). Minus 3 stars for not having the force of invective that even yo damn woman can muster. The best you can do is a meek impression of Bush in 04.

The "brown noise" comment was chilling, though. I was reminded of various old men who were actually ghosts in films like Haunted Mansion.

Enjoy - 2008-09-06

Needs "one star of justice" tag.

DMKA - 2008-09-06

A true American Hero?

Oh yes, because getting kidnapped by a bunch of Asians and giving them government secrets to save your own ass totally makes you a hero.
