Anyone who attempts to assert the whole "then we'd have no morals and we'd do whatever we want" argument without instantly thinking through this painfully obvious logical brick wall has their brain turned off. It's as inevitable and plain a conclusion as thinking "I'm going to put my face in a pot of boiling hot oil" and then arriving at "oh wait, that might hurt, better not".
I'm honestly not sure if people that fundamentally stupid can even be considered to be truly conscious.

eatenmyeyes - 2008-09-15 Their brains are not turned off. They are sociopaths.

If it weren't for Jesus, I would kill every one of you motherfuckers.

This argument is so unbelievably futile. I love every second of it.

You wouldn't kill your neighbor because you wouldn't want your neighbor to kill you.
It's called SOCIETY.
Oops... that's a little too close to socialism, isn't it?

Syd Midnight - 2008-09-16 If you kill your neighbor, the police will come get you, because of FASCISM only Jesus can protect us from murder and nosy big government

As an atheist, I don't do horrible things to people because I empathize with them and don't want them to do horrible things to me. People who don't do horrible things for fear of being caught scare me. How's that for a turn of the tables religious people who fear atheists?

Christians are idiots, the end.
(supplemented with; why didn't the ancient egyptians kill themselves off without a good Xtian god to tell them not to? Or the cromangnons? Wait, getting into evolution now, which doesn't exist!)
|
commandocucumber - 2008-09-15 well the ancient egyptions existed in the bible. moses led the jews away from them i believe. or did he kill his son? is he the one who built the ark? aww...who gives a shit.

Meerkat - 2008-09-15 Dude deserves to die in imaginable ways. Simultaneously.
|
Syd Midnight - 2008-09-16 Hey now lets not get into lumping all Christians together, "The only reason I'm not a serial killer is because someone is watching me" should be crazy in anyone's book. That is the kind of thinking you should outgrow as a teenager when you realize mommy and daddy won't always be there.

I'm always thanking god for supplying common sense for these people too

This is pretty hard to deny when you consider the Satanic violence machine that is Richard Dawkins.

So God is the only thing keeping this guy from killing people?
That's pretty scary.
I could easily name at least 10 confirmed atheist friends of mine who manage to somehow convince themselves on a daily basis not to murder.

Few things are more fun than watching an idiot impale himself on his own retarded logic.

If God did not exist.
Then I would kill my neighbor.
I have not killed my neighbor.
∴ Therefore, ergo, Ipso Factso, QED, God exists.

TeenerTot - 2008-09-16
If god did not exist, I would kill my neighbor.
But luckily, god does exist, so I can kill my neighbor in a religious war.

Wow...that's some A-class, major stupid right there.
But one of my biggest pet peeves in the world today are idiots who try to actually insist that ethics and morals are solely a religious invention and only religion can lay claim to them. This argument came up in the local school system some years back when they decided to institute this thing where each month a new principle of morals was used as the theme for that month, like say, "Honesty." Some people argued it was inserting religion into the school. Yes, because religion has been the shining example of honesty for oh so long.
