"Since this has now become a campaign issue, I asked Huslin [who wrote an opinion piece for the Post] to provide the exact circumstances of the quote. She explained that she was chatting with Raines during the photo shoot, and asked "if he was engaged at all with the Democrats' quest for the White House. He said that he had gotten a couple of calls from the Obama campaign. I asked him about what, and he said 'oh, general housing, economy issues.' ('Not mortgage/foreclosure meltdown or Fannie-specific,' I asked, and he said 'no.')"

So what is McCain's background in economics? How about the Keating Five scandal and the long lasting effect it had on the American economy. It jumpstarted whole new era of corrupt politicians deregulating all kinds of things in the financial sector. Deregulations that wound up eventually leading up to things like the AIG failure.

Why the Obama campaign isn't playing shit up as much as possible is beyond me. Also, if we want to talk shit about campaign advisors, Phil Gramm is about as easy a target as anyone. In fact, the legislation that Gramm backed in the late 90s is pretty what caused this recent economic breakdown. He may not be on McCain's team anymore, but pointing out why is worth a few ads as well.

I completely anticipate a hilarious slough of Keating Five ads from Obama within seven days of the elections. Pretty sure that's going to seal the deal.

John McCain should probably stop releasing ads that keep adding extra firepower to his opponent's ammunition.

CornOnTheCabre - 2008-09-19

ha, yeah, I cant believe that a Senate Ethics Committee gathered to declare McCain someone with POOR JUDGMENT

now im all for every American having the opportunity to become President, but if ever there was a constitutional amendment that HAD to be made to create another requisite for becoming Commander in Chief, it would be that no branch of government has ever convened for the express purpose of saying you have poor judgment

We're flirting with slander here.

5 stars for the patronizing cunt doing the voice work, aiming for that crucial, elderly spectrum of the vast Asshole Demographic.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-09-19

Yeah, I'm not going to vote for a candidate who's commercials make me want to haymaker an old woman.

Rudy - 2008-09-19

"I'm John McCain, and it appears I missed the bus. Anybody got a schedule?"

I like how the talking points at the end aren't even entire sentences.

John McCain's got what plants crave. He's got electrolytes.

HankFinch - 2008-09-20

He's salty! That's what I like about him.
